Being the city-dweller I am, I have to normally go pretty far away to get some outdoors time. Nearly a hundred pages ago I posted a few pics of some peacock families that had made their way to my neighborhood.

It seems they're now following me to work!

Well, one fella in particular, anyway. I was sitting in the office making a game effort at getting work done when suddenly I see some REALLY big wings appear in front of my office window, no further than 15' away. They were attached to this big fella who just decided to land in the staircase!

Something happened to his plumage, and my suspicion is it had something to do with some ***hat who wanted the feathers for decoration. Still, he calmly and coolly kept walking down the outside walkway, prompting other people to pop their heads out and take a picture or just marvel at the vibrant blue and green bird. For his part, he didn't seem to bat an eye at any of it.

Glad he showed up to make my Friday a little more interesting!

My buddy got another nice buck Thursday in all the rain & wind from the hurricane - __ 8 point 170 lbs. ___ ( first photo ) called me a candy azzzzzz, for not going

Nice fish John ... Thats one nice size smallmouth (prefer them over largemouths as they are stronger and love to jump )... and nice pike as well...

Tony - Those peacocks are a popular feather for fly tying and have been used from the early 1800s for many fly fishing patterns ... Just saying and clearly not asking for feathers ..

Been two seasons since I shot a deer; 100 lbs. doe for venison burger this morning. Used a never before used Buck 117 to skin and an old Buck 110 to debone the meat. Real nice cool morning too, 39f about the time I shot the doe (0700). OH

Good job, Bruce! I like your knives and your "nanny" but I really like your 88! I'm sure you've posted it before, what caliber is it?
We've a month before the rifle season opens but the deer woods are a train wreck after the hurricane, doesn't look too promising right now.

Thank you gents, appreciate all the best wishes. Philip, it’s a 1963 built Winchester M88 chambered for the 308 WIN. Very cantankerous with factory ammo but will shoot MOA with a handload using a 165 grain Hornady Interlock and IMR4064 powder, I bought it in 1995 and it is one of my favorite two rifles. Dogg, those Savage M99 are great rifles too; in the past I have owned a 250/3000 and a 243 WIN - I let a Savage collector buddy trade me out of both of them - should have kept the 243 WIN. As for the Buck 117, it was still in it’s box from a year ago when I bought it. I have a minor disaster going on right now; we moved a week ago and all my “using Buck’s are in one box that is misplaced right now -cannot find it anywhere, ALL MY Buck 118 Personals are in that box, so I opened this one and took it with me. I liked it, but it is no 118 - the BEST deer knife ever made in my opinion. Scott, sure good to see you posting bud! OH

I don't have anything as exciting as a harvested deer to post. I have a bird feeding station just outside my office window where I can look out and see who has stopped by for a bite. As the weather has begun to cool, the activity around has increased. Here are more bird pictures than anyone other than a fellow bird watcher will likely appreciate.

We just moved in to our new house and I have a new feeder waiting to be put up. I have to get a pole to hang it on, first.

Phil that is a really nice variety of birds. I just don't get that here. I attribute this to our local topography. I think that being surrounded by pasture land severely limits my clientele to just the most abundant species.

This one startled me one day. Probably have shown this before. But it's my trophy visitor.

Phil - you have a really nice variety of birds there. It is abut time for me to put out a feeder. I note that you have two species of woodpeckers: they are some of my favorites, when they come to my feeder.

That hawk is a very nice bird too, QS. When my feeder gets really busy with dozens of finches flitting in and out, then I sometimes have a Cooper's Hawk make a darting dive into the back yard. They like to come in low over the top of my house and be in among the feeder birds before they can react.
