Case 7254??

Guys,
I have a Case trapper recently acquired and the tang is stamped 7254. It looks like bone to me but even if it is wood as per the AAPK research drop down, not one of my books show that there was a Case 54 trapper made in 1978 with wood (7254) handles.
I'd welcome some input on this.

It looks a little like the jigged Staminawood of the mid-1970s but the ones I have are all designated with a "6" (much like Delrin knives are) and not a "7" indicating true wood handles.

Maybe Steve (knifeaholic) will have some input...

Ray; looks like a 2 dot 6254 bone & SS with a replaced spay blade from a late 80's to 90's era 7254 SS. You are correct, Case never made a 7254 in the 70''s. The 7254 was first made after Parker took over in 89.

The original two dot knife would have had a spay blade stamped 6254 SSP.

Thanks Tony and Steve. I thought about the possibility of a replaced blade but whoever did the work surely did a good job. Maybe Case did it in their shop, who knows.
I sure appreciate the help on this.
