I'm having a real busy day so just shot this one poor pic of what has to be my best mail call ever. I traded Herman some new SW's for some blade swaps and re-handles on some users and some pretty good ones...also bought a couple he had. I'll post some more pic's when I have the time to take decent shots. Asked Herman to pick the re-handle material....how good is that celluloid and the Winterbottom?

All knice but the handles on the one on the far right catch my eye. And my favorite is the rope knife with the rams horn (?) scales. That is a beaut!

Howdy - here's one of my latest pick-ups: A late model Camillus #2 with wood covers. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement shield for this knife?? I don't have a set of calipers, but my ruler and Mk I eyeball see a slightly oval shape that is 5/16" wide and 1/4" tall.

Here is what the mail lady brought me today. I forgot that entered to buy this, they only made 655 and guess I was one of the lucky ones to have their card pulled.
Smooth Blue Smoke Kirinite canoe.
Gorgeous.
Honestly though I would be real tempted to trade on that Boker of Ricks.

Cool knife Railsplitter, as Jerry said those handles really catch the eye.

For some unknown reason I thought I needed some folding hunters even though I didn't need them. So..... being ever budget conscious I went shopping for a few in the really low to mid price range and here's what I got. Left to right;
-Maserin 126, blade and saw combo with cocobolo handles, lock back on the main blade. Good solid knife with smooth blade action, a bit chunky.
-Bear Hunter coke bottle trapper pattern with ebony handles. Hard to access nail nick on front blade but a solid knife for only 15 bucks.
-Boker Plus big single blade with bubinga handles. Silky smooth blade action and solid lock up, I like the steel liner and pins and its a great feeling knife in hand. Got more than I expected in this one have to say it seems to be a very well made knife.
-Marbles 5 1/4" folding hunter with smooth white bones and some cool etched graphics that caught my eye. Functions well as it should but gotta say that the super strong back springs are a bit scary when the blades snap shut.
Also picked up another Maserin from CK but I'll do another post on it.

Here's the other Maserin I got from CK Knives. Model 126 single blade with carved olive wood handles. I like this one, for the price I think its a good knife and I'm thinking of picking up a couple more as x-mas gifts for the sons in laws. Silky smooth blade opening, doesn't really need the nail nick as its quite easily opened one handed with the thumb or pinch gripped with the other hand. Plus I think the nick is awkwardly located on the blade and takes away from the aesthetics of the knife. Not a thin knife but no where near thick and chunky and at a frog hair under 4" closed I think it makes for an excellent back pocket knife for EDC. The checkering, (laser etched I believe), is very uniform and precise and the olive wood looks and feels great. Blade locks up good and solid but releases without any pain to the thumb when the spring is depressed. Satin finished blade, I think its what is called hollow ground grind. Bolster has a satin/brushed sort of finish that I find attractive. Made in Italy.
So thats my take on it from my limited knife knowledge. It has already seen a weeks worth of pocket carry and will see plenty more, I'll see how it holds up.

Rail splitter, that is a really good looking and useful sized knife. And yes those scales catch the eye.

Nice group there Sunknife. That BoBoker with those ScaScales of Burbinga looks really knice. It would be my pick.

The Camillus #2 I posted above is actually part of a small lot of bottom-feeder Camillus knives I bought. I suspect these were all banging around somewhere and never really used because the blades all look new, and the handles are beat-up, but not really worn.

Top to bottom: #2, No number but seems to be a #710Y, #812, #862, #49, No number. On the last one, I found the pattern in the Camillus catalogs, but not one that was bare metal. I don't know if that is supposed to be bare, or if the plastic covers were removed. That knife also has a nail file as the second blade that I forgot to show.

I have been seeing these Maserins on CK’s site and have been thinking about trying them. Recently bought my first Vipers from them and am loving those. I really like this Maserin that you have. Very nice knife.

Roland had it out there for sale for awhile. I finally bought it. Kinda fell in love w/ that material and I love Bark River knives too so it checked all the boxes for me. Hope we see more knives made w/ this material it really stands out.

You have to pay close attention to which model you are looking at. Boker offers the Scout, which is the one in your middle picture and I believe it's 4 inches closed. Then they have the Junior Scout which I believe is 3 5/8 inches closed. Then there's the Boy Scout at 3 inches closed which is the one I have.

They all look the same in pictures because the shape of the frame and blade are identical. The Boy Scout was in fact, a little pricey but perhaps not nearly as much as the two larger models.
