Franklin mint knives
I know, I know, the so called collectable knives made by the Franklin mint aren't worth much and nobody collects them. But Sundog and I have this pair we would like to part with, so the deal may be one you cannot refuse.
The Colt one is the "Single Action Army Peacemaker" model, stainless steel, made in China, 4 1/16" closed length. Comes with a padded zippered case. The Harley Davidson one is the "Ultimate Chopper" model, stainless steel, made in China, 4 5/8" closed length. Comes with a padded zippered case. Note: When I first saw them, I thought they were lockblades, but they are not. Take your pick $15 each or both for $25, plus FREE SHIPPING! Cheap enough to be used as EDC knives. Paypal accepted.

Re: Frankiln mint knives
Those are nicer ones than I have seen. Still have one from the first collection I bought. Question: why do those Franklin Mint cases look like that after a few years? I see a lot of them in this condition and the one I have is just like it.
Just curious if you would know.

Yes, I noticed the zippered cases had kind of a "frazzled" look to them. Probably just poor quality material (vinyl) used in their construction. They must deteriorate from the day they are made. These are the first ones I have have actually had in hand. Just seen pictures before. Probably like the early plastics like celluloid, after they are made chemical changes take place and leave behind some undesirable result.

That makes sense. Cause you see it on a heck of a lot of them. Can’t all have been stored in a tumbler.OLDE CUTLER wrote:Yes, I noticed the zippered cases had kind of a "frazzled" look to them. I received one from Big Monk (thank you kindly Monkey Man) that must be brand new because there's no wear on the pouch. I wouldn't buy one but I like this one and display it.

I had a few of those years ago. All harley davidson ones if I recall right. A friend gave them go me. They're gone now, and for the life of me I havent a clue where they went. I must have given them away. I remember them being in really good condition, cases and all.

Re: Franklin mint knives
Has anyone here ever used a Franklin Mint knife ? My assumption has been that they are not a good usable knife because the price is low. However other very inexpensive knives for example Rough Rider, are good users. It is possible that the F.M. blades are well ground and properly tempered.

Roland: I don't know if they were ever designed to be used. Most of the ones I've seen have handles that would probably do more damage to you by holding them than the blades.I think I have three of them in my accumulation;all were gifts.kootenay joe wrote:Has anyone here ever used a Franklin Mint knife ? The first one was given to me by my brother-in-law as a Christmas present and I noticed that while the handle was commemorating the 57 Chevy the blade etch said 53 Corvette.
I sent an e-mail telling them of this and suggesting they might want to check to see if any more were like that. I received a letter from the CEO thanking me and offering to send me a correct one. I declined and a couple weeks later received another one as a token of appreciation. It was determined there were no other ones so I have a one of a kind!
Here is a pic of them.

Roland, I haven’t used the one that I have but the blade is dull. Don’t think they really intended for these to be used. Franklin Mint got it all wrong, in my opinion, on the way they are trying to sell a collectible. Mass produce a knife made in China, put something of interest on it and viola you have a collectible that is sure to go to the moon in value. It works every time.

O.K., thanks. So Franklin Mint knives are lookers not cutters. Ray those 2 knives with the red at handle ends are attractive. (serious, not joking)

Re: Franklin mint knives
The ends are supposed to represent the front bumper end of the 57 Chevy. They don't seem to be of too bad a quality. The front end is a replica of the hood and trunk ornament.kootenay joe wrote:O.K., thanks. So Franklin Mint knives are lookers not cutters.
