 I thought you guys were after opinions, not someone to approve or disapprove of your project. Be reassured, I hope
everyone enjoyed the exchange of ideas and the final approval belongs to the patron. ::tu:: 70

I know the knife, it's from Michael Prater. He sells them for $285 on his site. I've been looking at a couple of his knives, some serious bling there. You must have bought it from him, here's a link to the exact picture. :|

Nah, don't own that one, but I am getting a 5 blade anglo saxon done in mammoth tooth, the knife is in Michael's posession now, should be outstanding, and I am planning to have a few S&M Sleeveboards done in Ivory and filed, then send those off to Howard Thomas for his artistry. Now that will be Bling :D ::tu:: ::tounge::

Right On! I purchased some Mammoth tooth scales recently, I wanted to pick out them out myself, about $90.00 for 2 knives, but I wanted Siberian. You're right that will be some serious bling. ::drool:: I will be using some of those 3 blade Anglo-Saxons I got from Parker's, hope you were able to get that Eagle etch, I got a couple of those an 1 is going to get Ivory and scrim from Howard, he does great work, check out some of his latest in color, never liked it until I saw one of his on eBay. 5 blade, should look great, like to see pictures of that one. I am going to wait until Fall or so, I don't know exacly what I want, doll up the bolsters too, well, maybe.
Good luck on your project, keep your documetation. ::tu:: ::tu::
Here is Howards web site, I hope others like his work as much as straybulletbmc and I do.

Darrell, you better decide soon, Howard is booked into the late fall, best to get on the schudule now, I am askin them to do a southern belle on a bulldog cotton sampler i recently acquired, staying with the theme of the knife, but here's the better part, I am thinkin on having a front and back knife made, showing both the front and rear of the object :D .....as for the file work of Michael, I am thinkin to use Case or S&M steel, that super HC that Bulldog uses will most likely blue out in a couple of decades or so.....I did have the extra 5 blade to use for the experiment though :) I might post it on the auction sites with an extreme reserve just to get a value on the thing, then times that by three, should be fairly close to a book on it then....I'll post a pic of the finished filework when i get her back 8)

Thanks for the info, I have a Lewis and Clark 200 year anniversay and I wanted to stay with the theme on that, maybe a Sacajawea, or a plains theme, but that's been done a lot. I found some good black and white images of Sacajawea while surfing the web. Probably go that route, fits well. Another of those knives will get one of Howards girls and a third will get mammoth tooth, going to cost more than I thought, about double. I have an Elephant Ivory 3 blade Anglo-Saxon that is going to get a Mermaid in color, I saw one he did in color and it was outstanding. A Mermaid suits me well since I dive all over the northern California coast, spearfishing and abalone diving. Another 3 blade Anglo-Saxon will get mammoth tooth. Good Luck! ::nod:: Some serious $$$$ going on there. 8)

Those sound great Darrell, send me the pic's of the finished product, and yeah some serious bling and $$ involved, I was thinkin a "Case" or "S&M wildcat Sleeveboard" filed by prater with blackpearl on one side, and ivory on the other for Howard to do a ::drool:: mermaid. Oh the ideas just keep coming, gonna have to work some serious overtime now, :)

That's the problem, I did too much resource and have too many ideas, the mammoth tooth/buffalo horn look is impressive also. Then there is the Buck Kalinga with blue and green/ brown Bark Ivory I want to do. I did find a blue and green/ brown Bark Ivory with a spiderweb pattern I like, have not bought it--YET, some serious thought though, but $200 for the unstablized tusk about 8 inches long and not cut up for knives yet, get a lot out of slabs on a piece that size. Some nice Meteorite slabs floating around too, if you want unique, there you go. My mind is numb with ideas. I figure to get started in a couple of months, need to be positive of what I want and narrow down my options.
