Ode To The 07

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Thanks, my friend.

Same as the Case Q. The bolsters look a little thinner.

Greg, that's some fine looking stag.

Snagged this one outta the bay last evening. Thank goodness for GIXEN because I completely forgot about it.

Seller's picture of course.

Nice snag, jerryd...you stole that one! I like the stainless liners on the Select knives. Isn't this your second one in Bermuda Green?

Thanks ~Q~. I was quite surprised and pleased with the cost. I expected it to go for much more since it's a Select.
As for the one I already have, you would be referring to the one in Hunter Green.

Not an 07 of course but a cousin to the 07, this Chinese Buck 382 was waiting for me by the front door when I got home this morning. Wood handles and snaps like Oprah on a pork chop. For $12 it's exceptionally well built.

Another, not a Case Mini-Trapper. This Imperial Schrade came yesterday. Pacific Rim made (but no country of origin mark) it shows those folks are getting better and better at making knives. Seller said the handles are Celluloid but I highly doubt that. I'm more of a mind that they are Acrylic. Fit & Finish is about an 8-9 out of 10 with some blade rub and slightly less than perfect hafting holding it down. Walk and talk are superb with .22 rifle crack snap. Comes out of the box a 6 out of 10 for sharpness. I'm quite satisfied with it.

At first glance, I though it was some kind of exotic wood. Good looking knife, whatever it's made of.

Although this one's not a Case 07 either, it is a Mini Trapper and I love it so much I just have to show it off in this thread as well. (Plus it was a gift from a very generous fellow who is also a Mini Trapper aficionado.)

...it's also the hands-down, uncontested, indisputable winner in the "Most Unique Spey Blade" category.

It's bone. I looked at it with the small 45x microscope and it's definitely bone.

Thank you, slim. I must admit, I have not had much good to say about most China made knives I've owned in the past (the one exception being AG Russell, of course...but those aren't really "Chinese" knives, IMO...they're AG Russell knives that are made in a Chinese factory), but this Klaas is definitely one of the better made Pacific Rim products I have experienced.
