No Cussin and Fearn Hardware, but the search continues. I missed out on a Hibbard Spencer True Value because I was jackin' my jaws on the phone (that was before I knew about sniping programs). Still looking for that one too. Most of the odd ones, I've just stumbled onto.

P.S. -- Almost all those were made by either Camillus or the Schrade family (Schrade, Imperial, Ulster)

Can't say I blame you Jerry. There might be more variations of the 72 than the schrade 4" stockman, which is a lot.

..greg,the last one I got was a moore/maker(at least 10 years ago) that I was told was made off the old Camillus tooling before it was destroyed, and when you compare it to any of the three originals I've got, it's dead on!!!(except for the handles, it has buffalo horn instead of the old rogers bone)!!!........ ...........

Tommy, is the knife you're talking about a split back whittler? If so I have to agree with you, a balloon split back whittler takes the cake.

........YES!!!..on the earlier ones, the single backspring was split and had a wedge to keep it separated, later ones had two backsprings with the tapered wedge between them.hope I have got my info on this correct!!........... .......................

David Camillus made the majority of them for Sears. Does it say High Carbon steel or simply Made in USA on the tang? That's a dead giveaway. That one though has the blade configuration of the later 72's. How is the tang marked?

If you put a Camillus and a Schrade side by side you can notice a difference besides the match stick pull on the Camillus.
