My new MOORE Maker

Post by justold52 »

My new Moore Maker 5119B 2 7/8" PINK Bone Peanut Knife.

I am just wondering if any one here has ever seen a Moore Maker Peanut ? All my searches not a one Peanut showed up.

After using that phone number on the box (800-658-9374) I found out that this knife was made by Bear & Son for them. The old gent and owner told me he was going to send me a catalog that shows more of them. We had a member (agteacher) that had a store here (Jones) and sold Moore Makers but now is gone. I was told that Queens and (Boker 2 single bladed knives) still make most of their knives to his specks using 1095 steel.

Perhaps this could be a brand of knife some seller could pick up again to sell in his AAPK store (All made in U.S.A.).... ::nod:: ::nod::

I am trying to expand my MooreMaker selection a little over the next few months. Just not a strong market for them at this point. Although I don't keep a lot of items under my AAPK banner, you can rest assured that you will get the same price / service.

Don't know if I can be pressured into stocking a pink knife though... ::paranoid::

I recently bought a large trapper in black buffalo from Moore and love it. It has carbon steel blades and is well made. It doesn't look like a
Queen or Shatt and won't break your nails like a Great Eastern. It came with a very nice single loop "holster" that I like very much. I carry it along with, what else, a Queen gunstock jack knife! Anybody know if they're made in Texas or jobbed out ?

Nice lookin' p-nut Ken ::tu:: Single blade - don't see those too often.

Hi Gunstock Jack - Moore Maker contracts their knives out to Queen, Bear&Son and a few to Boker. Camillus use to make some before they tanked.

Well I received this from my snail-man and I want to tell you all my OPINION.

At first I liked her cuz I never seen a Moore Maker Peanut. She looked kool even in PINK.. 8) Then I got to checking the web and could not find a one. I called the phone number on the box that showed on E-bays photo. Found out she was made by Bear&Son. Then I noted only one pin. I have other knives made by them and their resale value is not to kool. So I was really let down some. I waited until I had her in my hand. I must admit feeling down when I opened the package and taking her out of the box. I truly had to smile again at her. First looking at the one only pin just made me realize that 2 more pins on this small peanut would look cluttered. The bone color is kool and very evenly colored. The bone must have been very dense. Not like most new Case knives with that Appaloosa Bone look. The handles or some call them scales are very even on both sides of the knife. They also are very close to the bolsters (no space). The blade (1095) is in the center of the knife runs even with the scales. So I opened her up and I was surprised at the big nail nick. She was ez to open the first time for me. Not like some Queens that have very small nail nicks. She snapped open and closed very well. Not like a gaiter but for a peanut she was just fine. This one blade peanut is not a $55.00 S&M, and she is not made in China for $10.00. I will have to say she is one step above the last new Case peanut I bought.

Well I am very PLEASED with this Moore Maker made by Bear&Son. I only paid $25.00 for her I will be watching for more.

If you like peanuts get one. If you can find one. Let us here know your opnion.

Let me see how my memory is working.  ::hmm:: ::hmm:: ::idea:: If I remember correctly  Moore Maker has some knives made by Queen (that's the fuzzy one, memory wise) and others made by Camillus. When Camillus went under Bear and Son took over the Camillus jobs. Then a few were made by Boker, I think.

Very good Hukk you got it all right now... ::nod::

Boker to the best of my knowlage only made 2 types of single bladed pocket folders for Moore Maker so far.

All the Moore Maker knives are made to the owners specks.

The thing that I was so pleased with is that the peanut made by Bear & Son was as well built as it was...Again this is my opinion too... Pick one up and let us know your feeling about the peanut.

Call and he will send you his catolog I see in it this peanut is only $20.00
