My latest Schrade

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

Nice one!

Thanks guys, I put it in my slenderino display and that canoe shield is pretty cool...catches your eye and makes the knife stand out.

Sweet knife Joe. Hard to believe people used a knife like that without giving it a second thought. That’s a beauty for sure.

Those 294s were real beauty queens. I bet the cutlers who ground them out thought so too. Thanks for showing yours! ::tu::

That Lewis & Clark was a real gem of a pick-up. That is the first one of those i have seen. ::tu::

FJR
That 294 is the swetest one i have ever seen. I was chasing one for years and ended up abandoning my search through lack of any poking their heads up and those that did were quite ordinary. That one is as sweet as. ::tu:: ::ds::
Cheers,
Tony.

FRJ, Although I've picked up a few Schrades over the years I am not a serious collector of them. But yours strikes me as about the most beautiful I've seen. ::tu::

They're Imperials, but I guess they count as Schrades. This pair of Double Eagle for the Westmoreland Coal Company based in Kentucky (but they did operate mines in Southern WV as well as here in SW VA). They were unused, but needed a lot of tarnishing removed. There's still some black spots on the lockback that won't come off. I love how most of the ad models also had the company logo on the pouch flap. I've fallen in love with the 4515, and will probably end up getting another to carry.

Calvin, your saber ground Cut. Co. is very impressive, now, just as it was 75+ years ago. Are the handles bone ? Did Schrade Cut. Co. ever use synthetic handles jigged to resemble bone ?

Yes they did, it was peachseed jig but some kind of hard black synthetic material. You will also see schrade walden's with such handles. They are usually easy to distinguish from bone as the synthetic handles are totally black.
