When they say "Assisted Opening", do they mean just the thumb stud or is it spring assisted?

That's a very pretty Buck (by Camillus)! What year is that?

Thanks It's not that old I don't believe. If I'm reading the symbol correctly it's a 2010.

Oh - then maybe it's not part of the Camillus-produced 300-series. I like it!

Doug, that's a good looking Buck. I'm not much on single blade knives but I sure like that one.

Found this Made in Japan tool kit for cheap on eBay and it showed up today. Brand new. All shiny, it looks to have never been used. Seems to be well made.

This knife, whose name is Ghillie, came all the way from China to be with me for a total cost of $3.75. It is 3 7/8" closed with a 3 1/8" blade. The colorful handle is shaped like a stalk of bamboo is a natural hand fit. I don't know it's composition. Could be melted down computer innards. There is also a spring but no liners, just handle, blade, spring & pivot pin. Blade has good opening and closing snap and get this: zero play, absolutely solid when open. Arm hairs pop off as soon as blade touches them. Edge grind goes all the way to very tip, both sides, giving a needle like point.
It is amazing really: as cheap and chintzy as it looks it actually is a well functioning knife with a razor edge and no issues.
I like my Ghillie.

That's an interesting pivot - is that just a rivet of some sort?

Scott - I'm curious, when you hit a sale, do you typically buy all the knives they have, or do you typically cherry-pick the best they have from a larger set? Today's round-up looks to have come from opposite ends of time & space! :)

This Moore Maker 5204 knocked on the door today so I let him in. Needed some TLC 'cause the blades were abused but I cleaned it up and its ready for "moore" work. This one was built in 1999, probably by Queen.
