KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY

Ray you might have scored Big Time with those special SAK's There are ebay sellers in Switzerland who often have individual SAK from a set similar to yours and each knife sells for $100-$200. I'm sure this does not apply to every special run SAK.
Here is a Victorinox "Spartan" for $109 listed on ebay now as an example of special run SAK. There are hundreds of similar SAK's 'out there'. You might or might not have scored a high value series.

Thanks for the heads-up Roland. I posted some pictures on the Multi-Tool website in their SAK forum and a couple people said they have seen the set go for about $800(!) so I guess I did good. I may have to put this one up for sale as my summer taxes are due the end of next month and that is just over two grand.

My knife find of the the day is the large Imperial fish knife with marbled ,I assume ,celluloid scales. Looks to be in unused condition and never sharpened. The quality of early Imperial knives is so much better than the later shell handled knives.
I have to thank my friend Jerry (not an AAPK member yet) for selling it to me. The two smaller knives are a Winchester cattle knife and an Ulster equal end. Was wondering if any other member has knives with this handle material. It seems very stable on all 3 of mine. Thanks Steve B.

My find is an actual find. I was getting my wife's ice coffee yesterday morning. As I was driving, I noticed what looked like might be a knife in a sheath laying in the road. On the way back, I stopped to see if it was still there, and it was. It's not a high dollar knife, but still a decent knife. I mean, who doesn't like finding a knife, right? I feel bad that someone lost their knife though, but it will be well taken care of.

Good find, glennbad, I used to work for the City on traffic signals and it was amazing the tools I found in the road. Usually ran over but most still useful.

I found what appears to be a new Mini Copperhead 61749L SS at the pawn shop this morning. I can tell by the raggedy factory edge it never been sharpened. The fit and finish is great, the smooth bone handles are perfect. Got it for $20 , didn't have a box.
Does anyone know what Case calls the color of these handles?

Treefarmer the police are on the way to your house. You stole that. I think those handles are listed as 'beautiful'. That is about the prettiest $20 knife I have ever seen.

I like your celluloid handled knives very much! I have a few myself and they are big favorites with me. Seems most of the ones made before WWII that are still in good shape will continue so if stored well. Thanks for showing!

Yes Tongueriver I like the little diamond edge as well. It has hard 1/2 stops and snaps like new.
I would like to know what the handles are.
Some kind of composite but I don’t think cell.
Anyway for 25 dollars I couldn’t leave it there.

I think Smooth Antique Bone is a good call based on the appearance and color. It is further supported by the Bomb shield which is used on modern knives when Case seems to be trying to associate the knife to bygone days. It's a pretty knife. I like the looks of the high pull on clip blade.

That's a beautiful old MOP whittler Richard. I've read that Tryon contacted knives to be made for them - if so maybe someone will be able to identify who made it.

Did a little scrounging myself today and came up with these. A little rough but got them in a package deal for a good price. A nice little Schrade 12OT, and a CAMCO that has half-stops and looks like it still has the original factory edge. Both are tight with good snap.

The best of the lot is probably the Miller Bros. camp knife which I'm guessing is in the neighborhood of 90 to 100 years old. All blades are tight with good snap but it has a LOT of patina and crud in it and on it. Stamped on three blades - one has some numbers on it but can't quite make them out. Gonna take some work to clean it up.
