I do not currently have any serious display cases - I just have a few pieces from my various collections that I keep in my office at work. So, for example, I have one of my postwar Lionel train engines, some pieces from my headphone collection, some of my yo-yo collection & (of course) a few knives.

Like everything else in my life, I take a cheap & dirty approach to knife storage. I have FAR fewer knives than many of you guys.

I bought a pile of these "sunglass pouches" from Ali Express:

I then attach one of these little price tags to each pouch:

I write the make, model, year (if known) & a short description on the tag. I then put the knives (in their pouches) in stackable plastic tubs. I try to have some organization to the tubs, so all the Case knives go together, all the Camillus go together, all the modern knives (Kershaw, Ganzo, etc) go together, etc. I don't bag the knives that have boxes, they just go directly in the tubs.

The pouches are really just to provide a small bit of scratch and ding protection.

All-in, the pouches cost me ~20 cents per knife & the white tags are ~6 cents per knife. I have all my knives in a spreadsheet, so I don't really need to go searching through the tubs to determine whether or not I own a knife. I only need to go into the tubs if I actually want to handle a knife.

It is FAR from an ideal system - I would love to have a room full of display cases - but that's probably not going to happen.

Impressive TFL, especially the sun glasses holder. I use some or those too but just cause I had them around. Much more organized than me.

This is what I found:

Goin's Encyclopedia of Cutlery Markings is always a good start:

They have Challenge Cutlery Co. of Bridgeport, CT at circa 1905-1928.

(they also made knives in Sheffield, England & New York from 1876 - 1914)

Goin's does not mention paticular knives, although it does apear they made razors too.

There is a catalog picture shown of a Sportsman's Knife from 1890 made in Sheffield. A Vintage Sportsman's knife has multiple blades and tools, a picture of your knife would help.

Picked up this guy off ebay. Hope I didn't get in a bidding war with anyone from here. Nice Joseph Rodgers. Anyone have an age range?

It has no center liner, I've worked on a 2 blade lambsfoot that had this construction also. Surprisingly, there is no play in the blades, and the action is solid on both blades. In fact, this may possibly be the hardest pull of any knife I've ever had!

The covers are some kind of plastic, they're a bit shrunk. I'm wondering if I should leave them as is. I don't think it's terribly valuable, but who knows.

Doug I like your backpocket knife. I have one in Ebony. They are well built knives with thin profiles. Quite the handfull. Enjoy!!

Scott asked for offers on this 3" Richards shell handle tool kit knife. So since I didn't have one of the tool kits, plus I'm a huge fan of the Light Post tang stamp on the Richards, I shot one to him. He accepted and it just came in today. Never used, carried or sharpened, after a shot of Quick Release on the joint the blade snaps like a Penny Feist. The plaid handles and plastic case really trip my trigger. Now I have a really nifty one. Thanks Scott.

Oh! You're asking what's that other knife in the bottom picture. I'm glad you asked because those who have done business with Scott will recognize that as the "little something extra" that Scott has gained a reputation of sticking in with his sales. It may be nothing more than a pad or two of sticky notes or a ball point pen or it could be (as in the case of this sale) another knife. This happens to be a new, never used, never sharpened Rough Rider full size Trapper for which I just happen to have the Mini-Trapper mate. Scott, somewhere down the road, I'm going to get you back for this one. It may not be today, tomorrow, next week or even next month but when you least expect it, I'm going to get you buddy. Love it.
