Any idea as to the purpose of the three-sided spike ??
I do not know if I can explain correctly. It's a knife that's in a toolbox of the locksmith? fitter? machinist? , I do not know the exact word for this profession. For example, the tool is used to clean drill chips from a drilled hole in metal or chips on the edges of the machine-cut metal. It can also be drawn on the metal. I could not find the name of this specific tool in English. Scraper?
This knife is from the 1960s. I have the newer version from the same company - from the 70s

I think for cleaning out a drilled hole it would be called a 'reamer'.
Making marks or lines would be a scribe, usually a hardened tool ....
Chris i woke last night to the sound of thunder

Doug is that the 090 pattern? That's pretty sharp!
Thanks,I don't know. I got it on sale from Cabela's with some reward points. I'm new and still learning about all these patterns. This place is a great place to learn.
Schrade Walden EZ Open. I am thinking 1947. It never made it into the catalogs after the sale of the company in December of 1946. Probably everything but the tang stamp was already made? ??? I am already loving this knife and it isn't here yet.

I was eyeing that one too but I see that I was too late. Good to see it here. Looks like a dandy

WANTED: Shapleigh Diamond Edge branded Schrades in good condition.
This pair of Victorinox Alox Classic SD's(?) are spending the weekend traveling to my mailbox. I wanted something with scissors that's smaller than a Leatherman Wingman. Considered one of the little Bucks until I saw what they're getting for them, if you can find one. I like Alox so this very lightly used pair looks like they will fit the bill.

I strongly recommend the Companion--as it's the thinnest SAK ever made, but with the same tool set as the Classic. Usually the Classic and similar is what I carry when the SAK or folder on me doesn't have scissors, though I don't really like carrying the two Companions I have (one was for a tourist attraction in Germany, the other is a Westinghouse promo and I plan to get the two other blue Alox Westinghouse ad knives to make a complete set).
I saw this one a few days ago and I've been going back and forth on it. Lets see ,Northwoods $189, Case $89, I think I'll give this baby a shot. Giraffe bone 32 On it5's way to my house.

Thanks for asking but my photog skills are lacking. It did arrive and is an alligator with near 100% blades and dense black ebony- a good one fer sure. Still a mystery transition knife but I can be good with that.
Gonna give GEC another shot after a few disappointing knives in a row
I just dug the blade choices on this one as well as the stag with NO shield
I’ll post pics when she gets here
Just pulled the trigger for this one. A Case back pocket with 154cm steel. Almost added a Swayback as the wharncliffe blade has been really catching my attention. Looking forward to trying out the 154cm steel with the back pocket.
