Re: Newest Case Pick-Ups
Here is a Case knife i could not resist bidding for. A recent 2 spring muskrat dedicated to rabbits ! There is no pattern number on it. One tang is marked "CaseXX/x x" and the other "USA/Muskrat/SS"
This is not how Case knives are usually marked. Why is this one different ? And are the handles bone, ivory or plastic ? I cannot tell.
I really like it and hope to understand it better.

Re: Newest Case Pick-Ups
Kj that one is quite unique. I've never seen that before. The muskrat doesn't actually have a pattern # they are just marked with the word Muskrat. Could be the American version of the Bunny knife.

Thank you Monk & Greg. The "Hand Tools" is sold out but it is a $55 knife. It is a good knife for this money and i am pleased to learn handles are bone.
Greg, i think the Swing Guard is the most highly sought after Case-Bose Collab. Very very impressive knife. Any play in guard when open ?

Re: Newest Case Pick-Ups
It's very solid Roland when open but not so tight that it scuffs the tang when closing, a very well made knife. I have bought several Cases lately in that $55 range that I would put up against GEC quality. That Tribal lock is one of my favorites. I think Case does an outstanding job most of the time in that range.kootenay joe wrote:Thank you Monk & Greg. The "Hand Tools" is sold out but it is a $55 knife. Re: Newest Case Pick-Ups
Thank You QS. The art work is attractive and for $55 it is 'a lot of knife'. Blades would very much suit bunny hunting.

Swing guards are very cool knives - I don't own one, but I admire them from afar!

This 125th Anniversary Mini-Trapper should show up in my mailbox tomorrow. I really like the color of that bone.

Re: Newest Case Pick-Ups
I just received this 2014 Case 10318 medium stockman with black G10 handles. As much as I like the old bone & stag knives, I also think it is pretty cool to see a traditional knife pattern with a modern handle material. I found black G10 very difficult to photograph with my cell phone and bad room lighting - these are the best I could do. The blade finish seems a bit rough, more like a Sodbuster than a typical '18 pattern.

Sweet score TFL.
That finish on the blades is known as, 'as ground", no polishing.
