Camillus Knives

Hello, I'm new to this site and wounder if anyony is collecting Camillus brand knives ? I have a small collection started and would like to find more quality made knives.

Yes, there are plenty of Camillus collectors out there. I am not one of them but I am certain there are plenty of them. I feel sure one or two of them will come along to say their 'howdys' before too long.
Camillus was a fine knife and they made a lot of contract knives that we all used or collected.
All in all, I felt it was an under-appreciated brand.

I don't collect them, but I have a stock or cattle pattern that's in my EDC rotation. Quality knife. Strong springs and good carbon steel. Gets scary sharp with just a few strokes on the oilstone.

I collect a few of your namesakes. I have all the yello Jackets except the Fixed blade and the lock blade. I just got a .45-70 Bullet trapper and am eagerly awaiting it in the mail.

I have a soft spot for them I have one in my pocket that has been an every day companion for over thirty years now, three blade stockman.
I have almost left it on the dresser a few times as the handle at one end is starting to (crawl or warp) a little to the West.
I really hate the thought of leaving it behind one day.

I like most all of the knives Camillus actually made in house. Lots of nice contract work as well, IMO.

I accuired a couple more this week, a #29 Minni trapper and a .45-70 bullet knife

Those are all very nice but here is one that has been around for a very long time, if anyone knows when it might have been made I would be interested.
This one spent a very long time stuck in the barn wall and my granddad would not let anyone touch it.

Was your grandaddy a WWII veteran?
If so it may have been the knife he carried or it may have belonged to a friend of his.

I do collect Camillus. A couple of our members used to work for Camillus. Tom Williams (CAMCO) worked there for over thirty years. He is a wealth of info on Camillus.

Check out the Camillus link there. He has lots of info there, including old catalogs.
The study of Camillus is just getting started as they have only been out of business for a year.
Stick around here, as there will be lots more on Camillus. Most of the Camillus topics are posted in the KNIFE LORE section of AAPK. Check out that section as most of the Schrade posts are there as well. You probably know that Schrade & Camillus were sister companies, both owned by Albert Baer.
