New and uncommon Schrade walden I landed today

Schrade during the sixtys tried many variations on patterns some stuck some didn't yours is very rare. It is a good collectors find. Schrade apparently had some kind of fixation on the word WONDA ( perhapes it was from the popular bread from that era ( which built strong bodies first 8 ways and later 12 ways. ( Wonder bread ) What ever the reason they had Wonda wood ( which was a plastic substitute for real wood ) Plastic as I have mentioned was the wave of the future then and they were substituting plastic for all natural materials most with nifty names butter and molasses cell became K Horn ( what ever a K is? Perhapes it stands for KNOT CELLULOID or KNOT HORN ). Jigged bone and stag became delrin, sawcut delrin and staglon . The wonda blade came in when serrated blades in the 60tys made there appearance. Remember the Ginsu. In any event there were various models which used serrated blades. I just do not feel like digging them or the wonda wood or all that stuff out perhapes someone will want to . Yours looks like bone handles that with a Schrade Walden tang would certainly date it at early Ellenville production.. Probably early 60tys. I have posted a pic of a knife which just came in and i have not even cleaned up this was a trapper fish knife from that period. These are fairly rare since they were not made that long have a fish shield are stainless and genuine bone. I have a couple of them, for all those reasons they are starting to really appreciate in value. This came out around the same era it was another variation and did fairly well but was not kept in the line. Yours looks like something that might pop up in the AG R site from the Schrade collection. Just a guess. Nice odd ball. LT PS Actually it is a real WONDA

Thanks for the nice words and for the great information. I think I'll put it on a word doc and keep it with the knife.
I'll try to keep it and my fish knife together. I am going to post a photo of it just to show it off a little.
