Solders & fluxes
What solder/flux combinations are you using to join steel/steel, steel/brass, etc? Thanks!

Re: Solders & fluxes
I use silver solder from Jantz Supply. It comes with its own flux. It is not the cheapest but it works very well.

As am I. It works very well for soldering nickle silver bolsters to brass liners. I scuff it with 400 grit wet or dry to clean off any oxidation, and degrease any finger prints etc. with alcohol.orvet wrote:I use silver solder from Jantz Supply. It comes with its own flux. You can buy silver solder locally from air conditioning, refrigeration and heating supply stores.

Re: Solders & fluxes
soft solder works fine for soldering on bolsters and guards, the stay clean stuff that jantz sells is wonderful.
