I was browsing through the knife sections on ebay. I don't collect really old knives. I might start however. According to Goins, this is between 1940 and 1945. This thing just JUMPED out at me and I have know idea why? I don't even know if I got a good deal, a fair deal, or if I got screwed?? I just had to have it. Looks like Peachseed bone to me. I hope it is as nice as the pics make it to be. Any info is appreciated. ( Even if I paid way too much) Thats how we learn. Thanks, Kelley

Looks like Rodger's bone, but I'm not a Rodger's bone expert; just working on it.

Great looking knife. That knife turned my collecting a new direction. In 2002 i started collecting old knives. Now what to do with all those nib knives. The sickness never gets better only more complicated. Your knife was made 40-45 Goins 35-53Lg4 I think Goins is more accurate in this case. Hope this helps.

Thanks again guys for the reassurance on a nice find as I still could very well get taken on some of the older knives. This literally was a 15 minute thing. I didn't have time to get you guys expert opinions. I saw it, I liked it, and then I bought it! I'm usually only prone to snap decisions after a few relaxing Crown and waters, but this one happened in the middle of the day when I was cold stone sober! Kelley


PS. Fran, that's a good question. Unfortunately I have no good answer. However, what took me so long is really of no consequence. The problem is........ THE DEED WENT DOWN!!! I totally blame PA and Upnorth! Charlie because I drew him in the round table .....and David because he had the exact knife Charlie needed!! Now there are a lot of OLD knives out there that I need!

I had been watching that one myself, and it is another piece of art--- just one that will not get to be in my collection hahahah the were not very expensive when they came out and the steel was nothing to brag about back then but like a lot of things steel gets better with time and now the steel in that pal is as good as you could ask for.
I am glad that it has found a good home.

Smoke Lg4 refers to Bernard Levines guide to knives and thier values volume 4. Long out of print, it is worth whatever you have to pay! if you can find it. Hope this helps.
