Marlin has one too. I think right now only in .44 mag and .45 long colt. Mine is in .357/.38 special.

I also have a Model '94 Marlin in 25-20. Octagon barrel, Marbles adjustable buckhorn sights. One of the sweetest shooting rifles I've ever shot. Too expensive to shoot it much nowadays - last box of 50 rounds I bought for it cost $67, plus tax! Mine belonged to my grandfather. My grandparents had a farm and kept the Marlin mounted over the back door. Loaded. When I was young kid 8 or 10 years old I watched my grandmother shoot a rabbit through the head with it, from the kitchen window. Guess what we had for supper!

Me too, Philco! Dug up one of my gun books and I found out the original Marlin 94 was made from 1894-1934 and the newer 94 is known as the Cowboy Series, was started in 1996. As doglegg mentioned made in .357 Mag., .44-40, .44 Mag. and .45 Long Colt.
I had a little Marlin 27S some years ago. It had an exposed hammer, pump/slide action in 25-20. Another one I wish I had kept.
Another assault weapon to worry about.

You know, now that I'm thinking about it, I do remember guys in a Cowboy Action Shooting forum talking about lever guns and comparing Marlin to Winchester and Rossi. I guess it never dawned on me they were talking about the Marlin 94 in 38/357 & 45LC. For Cowboy Action Shooting, they want the rifle light, fast & reliable. I watched some CAS events and it sure looked like fun - I just never had the guts to actually try it in a match, nor did I know anyone well enough to ask if I could borrow their guns. It is a significant investment in 2 pistols, holsters, a lever rifle & a shotgun - and they have very strict rules about what specific models can be used.

Well with the UK government continuing to clamp down on law abiding citizens there are not many guns we can own without a lot of fuss
i have a small collection of antique muzzle loaders i can keep just picked this rather fine piece up
so far all i can work out that its Belgian probably converted to percussion cap from flintlock 12 groove rifling and about 30 cal ( my thumb fits in the bore )
i cant buy a knife of ebayUSA but i can own this

Nothing wrong with that one MrGrumpy, maybe a little smoky but a fine rifle in its day. If your thumb fits I bet it is more like 69 caliber or so.(at least my thumb) Being law abiding may cost something but always the best choice. Maybe pictures of some others some times. I also like the ladder sight on it.

Trench art and some of the items turned out by sailors in times past, especially those on whaling ships in the 18th and 19th centuries are fascinating works of art or craftsmanship from those we would normally least expect it.

Saw a whale bone, pearl, abalone and brass walking stick on Antiques Roadshow last night. Exquisite.

Dimitri, I think copper-smiths achieve that hammered or stippled effect using a sandbag and whatever they can to dent the metal.

I have no idea how they compressed the shell in on itself in equal portions to achieve that base.

Trench art is quite popular here in the UK
Now for the interesting bit as iv seen a piece like this before
Place shell on cooking stove with water in the bottom bring to boil and seal top dip in cold water the shell collapses on itself

I have a 1979 Marlin 1894c 38special/357 (the first year it was introduced) love that gun. I had a 44 mag but let it get away in a time of financial straits.

Last Thursday while I was at work, I sent my wife to the lgs to pick up a little Mossberg Shockwave 20 gauge that I had put on layaway for her. She brought it home, and surprised me with one for me too! Her 20 gauge is the standard black one and mine is the 12 gauge cerakoted one. She’s fine wife.

Oh I love shooting them. I shot one that belongs to my brother’s uncle-in-law. It was a hoot and I figured it’d make a fine house/truck gun. It’s a whole lot more comfortable to shoot than you’d think. It’s a heap fun.

Good to see you are around and doing well.

Congrats on a fine wife and guns. I like the tang safety myself. I looked at the Shockwave as I am a lefty long gun user/ right handed/ left eye dominant shooter. Only thing I do as a lefty is rifle and shotgun. I need or should I say prefer a tang safety based on that.

That said, I like the waterproof canister that it comes with so you can bury it 15 paces south of the apple tree and 25 paces west of the oak tree before the government comes to take our guns and dig it up later. LOL

Great gun. Love the model 500 though. Gave that to the ex-wife. Need to pick up another or the Shockwave.
