i finally got my first mother of pearl knife. ive had a couple others in the past, but sold or traded them away because they werent in that good of condition, but i finally managed to get one that is in near mint to mint condition and its an older case too. ive seen some of them on ebay lately. this is a case xx sleeve board pen knife. it has 079 on the tang but its genuine mother of pearl and the actual pattern number is 82079 1/2. i have never seen one of these actually stamped with the full pattern stamp. anyway, its stamped case xx stainless usa and what looks like possibly 2 dots under the tang which would put it at a 1978 dating but my book, jim parkers pocket knife traders price guide doesnt list one for that time and i cant really tell if it has two dots or not as the bolster is hiding what could be the dots. anyway, the last year my book lists this knife is 1973 i believe, but i know its not a 70-73 as i would be able to see the dots then. anyway, my question is does anyone have a book that lists this knife as being made in 1978-79? as i said, i cant tell if what im thinking are dots actually are. it could be a 65-69. anyway, just thought i would post here and see if anyone knows more about it.

Hello! I had a question about a knife and Bryan from the forum told me to contact Shirley Boser at Case.
She is Case's historian who has at her disposal lots of resources that may be helpful - [email protected]
She emailed me back yesterday - was very helpful. Good luck!
Your knife is beautiful.
