Finally got one under my belt after quite a spell. It definitely was not like riding a bicycle!

This XX era Slim Trapper was missing the rear half of the pile side handle and they had peened the pin to the liner. That's no good!

Pretty much Handle replacement 101. The bone is a bit more red then it shows in the pics, I believe Culpepper's called it Cherry bone, but I could be wrong.

All in all I think it came out alright, no cracks at the pins, no pin shine at the bolsters, blades are good and tight and it walks and talks almost like new.

Were you able to save the liner with the peened down pin? I've got a Trapper that needs assembling, after I get around to drilling out pin holes for the homemade liner...a gift of knife pieces, waiting to become a knife, again.

Not too new I hope. I try to leave a knife with as much of it's dignity/patina as possible. 30 days in my pocket will take some of the shine off the outside.

Were you able to save the liner with the peened down pin?

Yeah, there wasn't any damage to the liner, all parts are original except the handles.

I've had a couple of these in the past, but didn't keep 'em around long. This'll be the first one I take the opportunity to carry. Not a big fan of Trapper's for EDC, but this smaller frame might be okay.
