Does this qualify as a “rope knife”? It looks like rope and it’s definitely a knife......

- I still think it is strange how we both scored one within a month of each other and no doubt separate sources for scoring them - when in fact before that Thomaston was not even known to many as a maker of Navy Jacks (as Charlie alludes to above one more for the list of makers)

... The bone looks the same between the 2 jacks (I'm guessing Rogers Bone from the color) but the jigging looks somewhat different to my eye

though that only may mean a different worker did the jigging as one explanation.....

How about a Case XX era bone scaled Bill Boatman? I remember reading somewhere the serrated blade was used to cut rope. Had a hard time getting a picture of the blade etch but it says;

Just got this Miller Bros rope knife yesterday in person from a seller in Gloucester MA, I introduced him to his brothers and tucked them in for bed. L-R Miller Bros, Union Cut missing a bail, Robeson missing a bail, and another Union Cut. I think I may try and find examples of all of the WWI rope knives as a collection subset.

Here are a couple to add to the show.

JT Mount NJ is one of my favorites. The Mason knife I never considered a rope knife though?

9 years damn that was a long nap!!! The Mount is 4 3/4" closed. Hard to find maker, I have a covered backspring pearl congress also marked J T Mount.
