It's been about a month or so since I brought something to show and tell, and I've been busy. Lets start off small, another small knife for the work EDC rotation (yep, there's enough for a rotation
)2007 Case CV Baby Butterbean, Juniper scales with African Blackwood spacers, and what my little cousin kindly pointed out is dogbone filework, despite whatever I was calling it when I made it.
It's a nice little knife, with one slight drawback. the crink is off by just enough that normal use scuffs an arc on the side of the master (not shown, but it's there). Oh well, noone is perfect
Now, the big daddy. This knife hated me. It didn't want to be finished. It started life as a Canal Street Canittler (oh I do love that pattern). I was inspired by one of the most fun knives in my collection, an old Western Black Beauty (info here, if your not familiar). I also saw an old Imperial as well that looked similar, and that's what cemented the idea in my head.

From the start, the handles fought me. I had to re-glue and re-clamp at least a half dozen times, as they were somewhat brittle to slab down before mounting (remember, no power tools here, just my drill, a coping saw, hacksaw, lucky hammer and lots of elbow grease).
I was near the point of throwing the whole lot into the trash and finding a new handle material at least a dozen times. Once I got them mounted, all the issues went away....until I broke my #1 rule for just a half a second (Everyone knows rule #1 right? Tape the blades. always tape the blades) and put a nice healthy gash down my index finger (wow, that D2 is sharp!)
Also worth noting, no buffing on either of these two knives. straight from 220 to 2500 standard, then 3000 to 12000 grit, micromesh abrasives. downright SICK mirror polish on the both, wood included (though it doesn't show real well in the photos)
