Dimitri that's an amazing auto!
Say, if you really want to put one in your pocket how about trading this one for yours, you know those etches are just so pesky on an EDC!
Just kidding of course, I KNOW you wouldn't pocket that beauty! I have yet to find one with an etch, nice!!

Re: What Schrade RARE knife do you have
Here's a somewhat rare Uncle Henry trapper with the Schrade / Stainless / 285UH stamp. I believe that was used for a short time in between the Schrade / Walden and Schrade / NY USA era stamp. It also has the jimped liners like the Walden era trappers.

Here's a 8OT with bone scales and threaded bolsters you don't see every day.

Re: What Schrade RARE knife do you have
I've looked at a lot of Schrade knives and this is the first one I've seen with that stamping. I would guess with the box and foam insert it came after the stamp of Schrade NY USA.gwelker62 wrote:Here's a somewhat rare Uncle Henry trapper with the Schrade / Stainless / 285UH stamp. Re: What Schrade RARE knife do you have
I'm pretty sure the seller paired it with that box. So it isn't correct for the time period it was made. It probably came in a box with the red or maybe blue faux velvet insert. Plus, it has the jimped liners like the Walden 285. That would indicate post Walden but pre NY USA.thawk wrote: I've looked at a lot of Schrade knives and this is the first one I've seen with that stamping. Good point with the milled liners. It's an interesting stamp. The red velvet lined box would be more appropriate.gwelker62 wrote:I'm pretty sure the seller paired it with that box. Re: What Schrade RARE knife do you have
It's a pleasure to read through this thread and look at the pictures. Although Schrade is not a focus of my collection I have managed to snag a few. I collect equal end patterns which is what drew me to the R7973 pictured below. Both blades are marked Schrade Cut. Co. Walden N.Y. Not sure if this is a rare Schrade pattern. The Schrade Cut Co R7973 is very comparable to the Case Tested XX 6294J pattern which is somewhat rare in the Case world.

I'd say that is pretty rare Ralph. Especially in mint like condition.

Here is a first year production LB8, S# 2134. The '81 Schrade catalogs refer to it as the Grizzly, and utilized a LB7 blade.

Jerry that's a phenomenal knife, and yes it's quite rare in that condition.RalphAlsip wrote:It's a pleasure to read through this thread and look at the pictures. From 1953 to 1955 or'56? Shipped for 3 or 4 years? That's rare enough for me.
