Smith & Wesson fixed blade ?

My brother-in-law just e-mailed me about a knife he found.He describes it as a fixed blade about 8" OAL with a 4"blade.Stamped Smith and Wesson-Made in USA and First Production Run on the blade.Don't have any pics yet and won't be getting it until next month when he comes into town. Any ideas on about how old?Has Zytel handles and black leather basket weave sheath.
