1953 German made bowie combo-who made it?

My old farmer/rancher friend asked me about his knife he bought while in German in 1953. We would like to know who made it, if possible. Both knives have nice old stag handles and the only mark is "Solingen". I tightened up the alum. butt cap, it had shrunk a little after 60+ years. The leather is getting dry rot also. But they are a nice set. Any info will be appreciated. thanks, Terry

And another time I've seen such a German hunting set, but unfortunately it is impossible to identify the manufacturer. The word "Solingen" has long been transformed into an advertising slogan. There are people who think that Solingen is a brand of knives.
The knives are a typical German model, and are ordered from some factory by a merchant exporter or distributor.

I agree. Not possible to know manufacturer.
Solingen had many manufacturers of knife parts, e.g., handles, guards, blades, etc. and these were sold to the knife manufacturers and turned into completed knives. So trying to ID by comparing parts to those from a knife marked with a manufacturers name might only show that both knives have parts from same part manufacturer.

There are also folks that assume "INOX" is the most popular brand of European knives.

Thanks for trying guys, I have seen a ton of these over the years, one I had was marked F.A.Bower , which I believe was a imported out of Fl. but the knife looked very similar. Terry

What is the mark on the small knife?

I believe it reads "Solingen".

Yes, both are stamped Solingen, nothing else. Terry
