Hello everyone, I currently own a knife manufactured by Camillus under the Syracuse Knife Company brand. It belonged to my grandfather, and it has substantial sentimental value to me. My guess would be that it was from their earlier period of production around 1935. That is just a guess though based on his age and the little that I know about the company. Unfortunately, the largest of the three blades has broken, and I would like to repair it. The best way I can think of to do so would be to use a donor blade from another similar knife made by the same manufacturer. I, unfortunately, don't think that I have the skills or tools to complete such a task, so I'm also looking for someone that I could hire to complete the repair. I don't want the first knife that I try to repair this extensively to be one that means this much to me. I've looked at what goes into a repair like this, but I don't really have much of an idea as to what it would cost. I'm not exactly wealthy, but I'm willing to at least pay you a fair wage for your time, skill, and materials. If you can help me out with either portion of this, then I'd greatly appreciate hearing from you.

Hello, and welcome to AAPK! I'm sure if you're patient, you will be able to find a blade here to replace the broken one. And I'm positive there are
several talented folks here capable of doing the repairs.
It will help the process to measure the knife accurately in it's closed position, and to post a close-up pic of the broken blade and any writing that is on it.
Best of luck!

I wouldn't repair it. I have an Old Timer that was my grandfather's, and there's a notch in the spine towards the tip. It happened about 20 years ago when he was working on the breaker box. I have since acquired another that I carry in place of it.
