Where Are All The Remington Knife Collectors?

The Remington Corporation and the knives that they built have influenced the U.S. cutlery industry more than nearly any other manufacturer. From the time America was settled, to the end of WWI, American knife companies struggled to compete with Britain and German imports, but events that occurred during and after the First World War led to a great change in this phenomenon. Unprecedented opportunities arose, and Remington stepped up to seize the moment. In the process, they created some of today's most prized collectables. In an ironic twist, the next World War played the greatest role in ending the company’s domination of the industry.

More times than not a pen blade will only be stamped like yours (Remington, or Remington UMC inside a circle). Then the main blade will have the era stamp on it. I will have to look this evening but I don't think I have any pen knives where the stamps match.

Edit...here is a close-up of the R1013 I posted on the previous page.

Picked up a nice easy opener today. 3 3/8" . Blades have nice tight snap with half stop.
Probably paid more than I should've, but it just hit all the right buttons with me.

Thank you, Keith. My intentions were to buy a nice knife that I would carry, but I'm not sure I can bring myself to carry this one. It may just sit on my desk to fiddle with awhile! :D

Wayne was kind enough to let this doctor's knife leave his collection. Still has a faint etch and inscription in the mop. The other one has a pretty good etch.

I believe the tang reads R1063. But the pics I've seen of that model had a bare-head.
3 3/8" closed.
Did Remington make this model with bare-head and with two bolsters?

Stewart & Ritchie show the R1063 on page 81 as a capped jack 3 3/8" identical to yours with the exception of the shield, which is slightly different.

Two excellent examples! Was there any rhyme or reason to the different shields used?

I have a handful of display cases and for whatever reason I can't get this one set to not mess with. All the others never get rearranged. This is the line-up as of now. ::shrug::
