Went bird hunting this past Wednesday, had a great time hunting with two other gunners (my boss and one of my customers). I used my 16 Ga O/U, my two companions used 12 Ga shotguns. My customer has drawn a bead in the first picture. Look close at the second picture, you can see the quail at the moment of impact, that’s my boss doing the gunning. I have 22 birds in the refrigerator. OH

Good pictures, Fellers! I see the feathers a flyin' and I see the dragon fly that must be too cold to fly. Either that or he's stuck in some of that pine tar drippin' off that tree. :)

I really liked those quail hunting photos, OH. Those piney woods look a lot like they used to look in my area, back when the woods were burned off regularly.

Cool fungus, Scott. We have actually had winter conditions here for a couple of weeks now, and pretty much any leaves that are going to turn color have done that and fallen by now.

Mike - that photo of the backpack shelter is well composed! Make me shiver just looking at it.

Granted this is not very far outdoors but I enjoy seeing the fresh snow in this corner of the backyard.

Scott, those Maple leaves are really beautiful! Maybe we'll get to send a snow picture in the morning but for now all I have is a picture of Bambi. About 8am he was walking through some planted pines from east to west, he has now spent the day hanging in the old oak tree behind the shop. .243 about 130 yards. The rut is in full swing!

Thanks for the kind words! The dog, Flossie, is gun shy. She hates thunder and will usually hide when someone is shooting. She has a terrible time on the 4th of July and New Years eve with fireworks, even at a distance. But during hunting season, when she hears the rifle go off, she changes her attitude, ready to go see what she can find. She has become a well mannered house dog in the last year and Miss Joy says when the rifle goes off she ready to go. Yesterday morning, I called from the stand and asked Joy to let her loose after I shot the deer. I watched her come running down the road to the stand and immediately "wind" the deer and run straight to the spot where he was down. Good practice, for sometimes they don't fall on their nose and she can find one a lot easier than this old man! She guards the deer when it is brought back to the house. She would rather stay outside when one is hanging from the old oak tree and keep an eye on it.
