Re: Newest Case Pick-Ups
Greg, That's a nice one! I too have one of those Case Bowies, a friend found it in a pawn shop several years ago. It is not near as nice as yours as it had been used for something, had to tune it up a little bit. I believe I could have cut line with that thing when I was a young man on a land surveying crew 50 some years ago, it's right there next to a Collins machete.

Picked this 1993 Appaloosa bone 54 Trapper. First one I've seen with alot of the Appaloosa bone in the handle.

The mark side cover is about the best looking Appaloosa bone I think I have ever seen, Orb67. Very nice.
Here's my newest Case, a 1984 smooth white bone mini trapper W207 SP SSP.

Well, my will power lasted exactly one week... I just broke down and bought the 6233RSC SS in Amber Bone that I previously posted about. I like it!

Posted elsewhere in first knife of 2018 thread, but belongs here. 1984 new grind, second cut stag, 5318. OH

Re: Newest Case Pick-Ups
It certainly does belong here, OH...what a beauty! I've been enamored with the New Grind style ever since I first saw it. So graceful and aesthetically pleasing. The second cut stag on your stockman combined with the New Grind blades makes it a very elegant looking knife indeed.

Nice one old H, love the new grind, wish they still did it. Good looking stag for second cut. Better than a lot of first cut I see out there. Congrats.

Re: Newest Case Pick-Ups
Thanks gents, I appreciate the compliments on this knife - it is a good fit for my 18 pattern collection. The e-bay seller captured the stag and especially the new grind much better than I did - here are a couple of his pictures (and the reason I hit "BUY IT NOW" with reckless abandon!) OH

Re: Newest Case Pick-Ups
*sigh* if I am ever going to do more than look longingly at beautiful stag handles, I need to get over my deeply-seated fear of paying more than $50 for a knife. However, there's no telling what would happen if I ever open those floodgates...

Re: Newest Case Pick-Ups
Terry, I can tell you what happens. DON'T. You become anesthetized to the higher prices and the next thing you know you think nothing of buying $100+ knives. I tell you what buddy. Rice and beans are pretty good in the beginning but at some point, they get old real quick.
Impulse control. I don't know how that works but I sure would like to have some.
Colonel, I looked at that second cut stag and wanted to say, "Are you sure"?

Picked up this saddle horn mainly because of the great bone on it, some of the best later Case bone I have seen.

Re: Newest Case Pick-Ups
Allow me to chime in with my agreement John and Q, some outstanding bone on those for sure. With those high ridges, they will show pocket wear nicely should you choose to carry them. I have a bone stag stockman that originally had a lot of high ridges like that, and after carrying it extensively over the last 8 years or so, has pocket worn beautifully, and looks even more stag-like.

This is my 1st Copperhead, it's '79 1 dot, walks and talks but was abused by someone who used it as a hammer. Got most of that polished out and I'll put an edge on it later. It has a wonder feel in the hand.
I need to give this one a ride as an EDC. I like most all of my knives but this one really rang my bell!
