What's your source for carbide drill bits?

Where do you folks get your carbide drill bits from? There's a few reasonably priced sources on E-Bay but I figured I'd ask here first. (I'm looking for carbide metric drill bits.)

I'm certainly not a drill expert so I can't advise on the best source, but I'm wondering what is the application and what tools are being used? I'm under the impression carbide bits are generally not recommended for handheld drills or drill presses; they are brittle and can snap if there is wobble or runout. Their strong suit is high volume production work (e.g., CNC). Might carbide or titanium nitride be an alternative?

Then again I may be full of it. Let's see what the guys who drill every day have to say.

I just got a 3/32" carbide bit the other day from Jantz knife supply in Oklahoma, where I regularly order my supplies from. I plan to use it only in the drill press with the work securely clamped with 2 clamps to prevent twisting and breakage. A 3/32" from Jantz cost me $14.24, but I expect it will last a long time barring breakage.

You can use the ebay search tool and find super deals on drill bits. Many were made for the aircraft industry. I bought a lot of 10 for a great price a few years back and am still using them. The thing with Jantz is the S&H - if you only need a few items not practical to order from them.

You are right about the shipping from Jantz. I try to let a larger order accumulate so the shipping doesn't bite so hard. Fact is though that many places charge an arm and a leg for shipping, far above the actual cost of the actual shipping charges.
