Really nice Terry. I find Kimber to be very finicky about what it likes to eat. I'll be putting a few hundred more rounds through mine in the next couple days and hopefully she'll become more agreeable.

The Ruger SR1911 has turned out to be the best pistol I've ever owned. It refuses to do anything but shoot reliably and accurately.

Terry, I read through the CMP requirements for buying a surplus M1911A1 - talk about jumping through hoops. If I need a Remington Rand (what I always had issued to me) I'll go open market. OH

Those old GI 1911's sure have gone up in price.

The last time I checked (which admittedly has been a while) there weren't really any current fairly affordable 1911 reproductions that are 100% true to the original 1911-A1. There are some that are pretty close, but I'd love to have a truly authentic reproduction. Colt did make a really nice one years back, but they are not cheap if you nail one down. Original ones are just too much, and not something I'd want to spit a ton of rounds out of. I have really liked the classic 1911-A1 style since I was a kid. WW2 was always a very interesting topic to me, and I particularly focus on the american and german small arms.

a .54 derringer I finished up, it's far from perfect but my first sidelock build and I foolishly rushed through parts of it and it shows but it has a mean bark, . I only shot the obligatory test shot tonight after dark. I can't wait to shoot it tomorrow. This was built entirely of spare and self made parts total cash investment under $30. I have loads of muzzleloader parts piled up from flea market purchases, plannign on building them all into guns in the new year ::tu:: (if I get the time!)

The stock, trigger, tenon and pins I made from raw material. The lock was a spare cva lock I had kicking around from a parts gun I bought. The barrel is 3" of .54 caliber barrel leftover from a CVA carbine projects. I purchased a breech plug, drum and nipple and installed them (majority of the expenses).

Yea MM. great stuff and obvious talent. Makes when some say they built an AR seem very trivial.

Awesome work.

Thanks for the kind words

Shot a few shots today before my fingers went numb. averaged 530 fps. I was shooting 40 grains of FFFg Goex with a .530 RB and .015" patch. velocity increased slightly with each shot since I wasn't cleaning between shots. Groups @ 10 yards were inside 2" with the bead sight but it's shooting about 6" low so I'll probably rig up as low profile of a rear blade sight as I can to get it to hit POA.

Very nice Kaleb.

Interesting thing about building something from parts and scratch made. I suspect one has to fit the finished product to the available parts, instead of the other way around.

Is that 1,000,000 or 1,000,000,000?

Cause one billion is a heck of a lot of rifles.

H&K's first pistol, the HK Model 4. Thusly named because it could easily be converted to one of four calibers: .22LR, .25, .32, and .380
Kind of a rare bird nowadays. These were first made in 1967. This one is from 1971 IIRC.

Blue,
How does that pistol convert? Is there a complete barrel and slide for each caliber or is it just a barrel and spring change? ::shrug:: And do you have all the barrels? :)

Tree,
Just a magazine change and barrel with captive spring for each caliber.
I only have the .380, but I have my eye on a .22LR barrel.
Here's a pic of the complete barrel set. (not mine)
The .22LR change is pretty nifty, since the firing pin is offset through a different hole for the rimfire bullets.

That's pretty neat! I've seen some kits to convert the old 1911s to 22. Always something that we never seen before! ::tu:: Thanks, ::handshake:: .

Actually, I posted about those H&K sets some weeks back.

They were also sold here by Harrington & Richardson.
