Using my now "legendary" power of persuasion, I talked myself into getting this little jigged orange bone AG Russell drop point lock back and, for once, I am glad I took my own advice, if I do say so myself. Although, I fear the scuff mark on the pile side pivot end bolster will take a bit more than a pencil to polish up.
Flitz to the rescue. Good as new.

Just got this one in the mail yesterday, came right off ebay, my excuse for buying it, is that I don't have very many Robeson's. It is a jigged bone handle muskrat, not sure of the age but it took a wicked edge! number under the Robeson is 623595. Any one have an idea of age? thanks for looking. Terry

Scott, you and bighomer sure got some winners today!
bighomer's looks like a double barreled trapper, at least all the blades appear to open on one end of that thing! Scott, you'll just have to tell us what you're goin' to do with "Urban Pal".
Pokin' a little fun at you fellers.
The double barreled RR that was sent to me has blades opening on both ends, it is a double Canoe pattern and like you said bighomer, "what for I don't know."

You guys have been keeping the mailman busy it looks like. That's a unusual "back-to-back" trapper ( or whatever the correct name is
), and that little Urban Pal should would do a world of hurt.

Thanks for the kind words I-Man. Yeah Farmer its double barrel trapper alright, or you could call it a sleeveboard dogbone double jack if you wanted to
A feller could sew it in some leather and make a sap or slap jack, It 's a heavy dude and scary sharp.

Joe, I've been looking at those for quite some time but don't have myself talked into one yet. Something about reality not meeting expectations. Once I make up my mind, the tobacco bone versions will probably be all gone.
Edit: Oh the heck with it. Found one for $12.10 shipped at eCop. Cut down on it with both barrels.

Got a few more since the photo, too.

The double canoe is neat-looking but unwieldy. I imagine the double trapper is a little better in that regard. But with the canoe you can open all four blades and turn it into an ad hoc throwing star.

Thanks, gents, RR really did hit upon something I consider very nice with the smooth tobacco bone. And to think that entire mess of steel and bone cost about the same as just one of my recent Barlow acquisitions...BWT wrote:That is a great looking bunch of knives, very nice.

I got this big S&M split spring whittler in yesterday. 3 7/8 inches closed, those double springs on the master give it a bear trap snap.
