Ditto on antelope flavor, especially the blackstrap! Never shot one myself but in college I had a roommate whose father was a private pilot for a wealthy oilman and his company. He hunted all over the world. Our freezer was well stocked with wild game, and antelope was our favorite.

In order to keep their red color in a zoo they are fed a special diet loaded with carotenoids. Related: it has happened that a person has developed an orange skin from excessively eating carrots.

Congratulations, Keith! Good lookin' buck! I used to shoot one of them Remingtons, way back when they were called a 742 Woodsmaster. Mine was also 30-06.

We've had a great Thanksgiving with all our children and their families. This included being with the 2 oldest grandsons, 13 and 11. They either fished or hunted Thursday afternoon and most of Friday. We saw quite a few deer the 3 times we went. It was bucks only on Thursday and Friday and today and tomorrow does are legal. The boys had to head back to Georgia early this morning so they missed the doe hunt. Friday morning in the stand, the oldest, Christian said "Granddaddy, I guarantee that one is a buck!" He had the binoculars and he was right. Only problem he was too far for me to be comfortable with him taking the shot, so he walked on into the rough woods. Both evening hunts we saw 8 or 9 that came as close as 30 yards but it was past legal shooting time.
The boys and their dad caught a good number of bass but let 'em go, I just watched and enjoyed the sights!
Got to play with the youngest this morning before they headed back to Thomasville. He's a chunk, 18 months and 34 pounds, hard for an old grandpa with bad shoulders to handle. Maybe I'll live long enough to get to take him to the deer woods.
After the FSU/Florida game I went to the lease and killed a doe this afternoon, used my donated RR trapper on this one!

GDogg, what kind of boots does he have on? I'd go broke buying the proper clothes and boots if I had to hunt in Maine. I did put on some Brogans yesterday, left my flip flops at the house as I was going where there are a lot of briars.

I don't hunt but my cousin does. (He's 3 weeks older than me) He went down to his sister's place this weekend, they have ten wooded acres just barely outside the city limits, and bagged this feller this morning.
