Thanks Treefarmer. The stag trapper is 95
Stag stockman is a 80s knife. The black bone canoe is a 93. Haven’t paid much attention
To the rest, they are not likely to stay with me.
They are all unsharpened.

Hi Kerry.
Nice haul of loot you have there.
I've typed this question so many times I am tired of asking but do you have any idea of when, and why Case began using that script shield?
I have even sent two (unanswered) emails to Case directly. Just can't find an answer to this.

I have the Case 2001 catalog that shows the script badge as a new item, so I’m thinking it was 2001.
As far as why I think it was just another thing to catch the eye of collectors.

It may have been re-introduced as a feature in 2001 but the earliest I can find so far is in the 1930's I forget the exact year.
I would think it has more significance that just to catch a buy... But I have no idea ::shrug::

Sorry for sidetracking... ::dang::

Ken, here's one I've got on the way . The shield in question was called the silver script series and was used in the 2000's. This one is a 2004 but I've had others that ranged up to 2008. I'm not familiar with this shield being used as such in the 1930's. Now there was a script stamp that they used on the famous 25 cent knives but it was on the tang and not a shield. As for any reason they might have had for copying something that they had used in the past the almighty dollar is always a good reason to bring back a tradition. :D

Thanks Greg,
I'm going to have to look this up again to find the references I lost... You all are probably correct, and I misread something.

New to this forum but not knives, been heavily involved since 1990, got my first knife in 1976. I really like the Aurum etched knives and just got two new ones recently. They are from the mid 1970's Republic of Texas Series. The first is the 1976 Alamo Bowie (same as Sam Shorte presented to Ronald Regan and is in the Regan Library) and the second is the 1977 Texas Ranger Bowie. Still have a few I am looking for but the hunt is the fun part.
