CASE XX 61013 "baby hawkbill"

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

CASE XX 61013 "baby hawkbill"

Post by jmam7516 »

Hi folks, I was wondering if anybody has any 61013 pattern Case knives. A couple of years ago I was at a show and a fella had a green bone Case he referred to as a "baby hawkbill". I had never seen one and the guy showed me a book that referenced the knife as a 61013 pattern. It looked exactly like a smaller 61011. I looked at it for a while and ended up walking away from the $150 price tag. Since then I have looked and have been unable to find another. Maybe I am not looking in the right places or they are just that rare. I would like to hear your opinions or see some pics if you have any. thanks.

From the Case Research Dept right here on AAPK :
_________________________________________________________

Pattern # 13
There are at least three distinct knives that were manufactured with the pattern number 13. All of them were discontinued prior to 1940.

*The oldest version is a 3 3/8″ single bladed regular style Jack knife that has a single clip blade. This version has no left side bolster, and I believe were only manufactured with wood handles.

*Another version is a single bladed jack knife that is very similar to Case’s 011 pattern hawkbill except that it is smaller measuring 3 9/16″.

*The other is a 4″ swell-center jack knife that normally has a spear and pen blade.

Hello Jnam,

I have one. Yes they are rarely seen in my opinion. Only made in TESTED era in green bone.

It is for sale not mint but rare and books mint at 500 in 2010’. Will go much lower but not less than what I have into it.

Posted here but likely was way high on price. If it was mint or near 150 on the one you walked away from would be a steal in my opinion. Just don’t see them often. As I stated we can discuss if you like. PM me if interested.
