Hudson knife

found this yesterday behind my wife's knife blocks. She said it was one I dragged home. Hudson Knife Co. Howard City, Michigan. original products pre-Joslin pre-Olsen. Fillet knife 7.5 inch blade, 12 inches long. cleaned many years of old kitchen grease off the handles.

Too bad it can't talk! My guess is that it came out of a butcher shop or slaughter house and had a big fat deep butcher blade when new. Some real character there. How many acre feet worth of sirloins that knife went through!

it is for filleting fish into strips. made that way.

Hey MR...Marble's made a camp knife during the MSA period...1900-1915 or bouts
Very similar to this but with a bit wider blade profile
maybe they got the idea (Hudson) being in Michigan as this knife looks very old
and very similar
There is a Marble's on ebay right now and the are asking like 4500.00 bucks for it

I have been trying to learn anything I can about this knife, but everything I try turns up Olsen. I know it is a Hudson from Howard City, Michigan because it is stamped on the blade. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

I agree that was a butchers knife. That blade profile isnt really suited for a good filet job. Its been honed down ALOT. I dont think Ive ever seen one that worn, they are usually replaced way before that steel loss.
