'Z' looks like you may have a "thing" for stockmans. ::sotb::

Tom, I've bought more than one because of the shield. I've been sitting here racking my brain trying to remember that Texas company that has all the neat shields and it just won't come. "Matamoros" keeps trying to work it's way to the frontal lobe.

I am indeed. Thank you. If I were a man of means, I would collect them. Specifically the non-standard shields.

Hey Jerry, here's one that my son gave me for my birfday, but I don't think that Moore Maker makes their own knives anymore.

I like your style... Just kind of jump off that cliff, and find out how deep the water is ::pray::

I'd love to know what they are when you find out so that I can recognize the make if I run across anything similar. :)

T.J. I'm not so sure they ever made their own knives. Maybe someone more knowledgeable will weigh in.
Fine looking piece of cutlery there.

I agree, all of Moore Maker knives were contracted. They did make a heck of a set of fencin pliers tho.

I'm stocking up on some retail knives for my shop in the spring so I buy random items when the price is right. The "contact seller" feature on FleaBay is wonderful for setting up purchases so I set up a bulk buy of 100 of these 4 1/2" pocket pull knives for 57 bucks shipped. They sell normally for $1.13 / free shipping
I'm sure it costs almost every penny of that to ship them from China! Mind you I'm not complaining... until everyone in town is carrying a $1.50 knife to the bar.

Well, it's in the mail!

Just picked up this old Ulster Stockman off the bay last night. Near mint: never used. Eager to have it in hand.

Doodle is one of my favorite sellers. He always has something of interest, and he changes nothing on the knives he sells.

That is a GREAT looking knife QS

Thank you OH. Truth be told, I've never been drawn to Stockmans though I realize many members favor them. I bought this one because I've I have recently been picking up a few Ulsters. But now I see why it has been so popular. The 3 substantial blades, the fit or feel in my hand, the weight; it all works together for me. It is already in my pocket.

Good looking knife. Are those handles bone? Sure looks like it from here. Either way I'd say that's a schrade product. I have a delrin ulster like that, it's identical to an 881 or 8ot.

They make de-horners too, or at least they did at one time. But you're right they contracted all the knives. To best of my knowledge their current knives are made by Queen, Utica, or Bear & Sons. Some are identical to patterns from those makers but Moore Maker also has some proprietary designs for which they own the tooling, so you won't find those elsewhere. I think those are still made for them by Queen.

The Moore's are real nice folks! Next time you're in Matador stop by and see them. Matador is right on the road to Nowhere.

Pretty, but educate me.
I thought the 47 is a stockman pattern. The three blades lead me to that assumption, also.
I thought the trapper pattern to be a two bladed jack.

I'm thinking the SR stood for Satin Rose. Kind of a kissing cousin to appaloosa bone. Most definitely a stockman and not a trapper.
