New Case trapper came today

It's a beauty TC!

Is it acrylic or celluloid? I don't collect new Case knives (unless they're stag) I don't know if they have added acrylic or not!

somebody knows what corelon is. i looked all the places i could think of and found no definition or makeup of this material. smkw and frost use it, maybe the case examples are smkw sfo? what is it?

Can't remember right now but about 2 weeks ago someone brought out the celluloid thred back for me to read. I gathered that it's no longer used,?? I know the new CASE knives are using corelon which is stable and very durable. I asked about this knife at one time>>

Frost says it is not a celluliod on thier web site. I see Hen and Rooster use it as well.

It LOOKS and FEELS like acryilic. Lots of cool colors available it seems.

These corelon CASE knives are not going for a high dollar price (not to popular) saw none at the CASE factory for sale also. But I'm pleased with mine and the quality and bling is an eye catcher.

Not bad for under 30 bucks

I was in Bradford last Saturday, the 19th, and didn't see any either.I have been to Shepard Hills and they don't carry them either. I think it is a Frost/SMKW thing, they list them in their catalog and on their web site.
I expect the more eye catching examples will increase in value, but even if they don't I like them just for the aesthetics.

Heres a answer I got from another site..

I found that it is very similar to solid surface countertop material, like Dupont's Corian. Very tough stuff.

Not a very good answer but that was all I could come up with...

i went to dupont with no luck. perhaps corelon is a marketing name for ?

Hmmm, no handle pins. Reminds me of Mike Praters work. Seems that someone told me once that this material was the same that is used on bowling balls...don't hold me to it though.

DUH! I remember in a conversation with Michael Prater and I were talking about Corelon. I need to talk to him again about it. I don't remember exactly what he said (

actually I remember very little). Seems to me he was talking about him having legal rights to the name Corelon. I need to make a phone call next week.

Abalone Corelon CASE knife Spanish Jewel. Sounds nice, looks nice, no pins do they super glue it on ??? AND I guess they use real power in the mixes like Pearl, Abalone dust/crushed ??? I know I don’t like glued on stuff and looking close…….it is, only time will tell.

SMKW owns the rights to the name but it is a type of acrylic basically. According to Sterling Buster at Fight'n Rooster Knives. That is why they have to call theirs Z-Lox and not Corelon. Sterling told me that the company claims there is nothing they can not duplicate perfectly, including the end of day looks for knife handles, we'll see.
