Hey, johnny twoshoes! Good to see you back on the forum, always enjoyed your pictures and hunting stories.
Y'all have quite a project goin' there, I'm about like the nephew, do a little supervision and stay quiet.
Since the season is not too far off I thought I'd add a couple of pictures that include a shooting house. The 1st picture is of the shooting house I've been using for 16 seasons. The 2nd is from the critters point of view. Notice the shooting house in the back ground where the deer and turkeys are at a feeder. Number 3 is one of the bucks that hangs around the feeder.

I Would find myself right at home in your stand that’s for sure!

These hunting shacks have housed most of my family and have helped put venison on the table for years. It gets boring to watch a field for hours on end waiting for something to burst from the wood line, so being comfortable makes life a whole lot easier.

My older brother gets into the stand about 30 minutes before light and won’t leave the stand until dark o’clock. He won’t leave for lunch and rarely will so much as crack the door to take a leak. He is as dedicated to the watch as anyone on the farm.

Cool photos, Johnny and Treefarmer. On a sunny winter afternoon those shooting houses would make a really great place for a nap. Maybe need recliners instead of chairs ...

Mel, we didn't go with recliners but we do have 2 swivel based executive type chairs that will lean back and they are conducive to napping!
Many afternoons I've looked up from a short nap and have seen Bambi walking around in front of the stand.

Scott, there are several Wildlife Management Areas within about 60 +/- miles of your place that have a good deer population. Check them out at "myfwc.com".

Indeed there is....processing the game would be a major challenge, since I live in a condo development.

Back as the park yesterday with 6 kids and another adult...

I bring in the wood, they chop it like machines!!

Fishing with my pal, Adam. Adam is 83.
Searching for Bluefish in the serf and catching Mackerel off the pier. As of today we haven't caught any Blues but what a place to be and not catch fish.

At least I didn't get skunked.

Joe - I really like those surf fishing photos. I have not done any surf fishing since I was a teen, about fifty years ago. How big do Bluefish get in your area? Every now and then I catch one when I am fishing for Specks, but I have never caught one over a pound or two. I understand they get a lot bigger on the Atlantic coast. They are not much esteemed in my area, but I have cooked them up and they eat just fine to me.

They may go to 20 lbs. around here but that is a very big bluefish. My son and I caught some fish one evening years ago that went 15-17 lbs. here in Provincetown. You always caught 10 to 12 pounders in those days. Late 1980s. Also, smaller "snapper blues" could be caught in the harbor. Much smaller and better eating fish. Larger Blues are quite oily.
The thing about Bluefish is they are the hardest fighting fish I have ever caught. They also like fingers. Almost anyone who has spent time catching them has been bit. I was bit one time and jerked my hand away only to be impaled by another hook on the plug that was still firmly attached to the 5 or 6 lb. Blue. The fish died very quickly and I managed to remove the hook from the plug and had it remo$ed from my finger at a local clinic.

The seals have them pretty much chased away around here.

I had my “goats” out clearing some of the land here at the new homestead. We’re getting a road around the place I anticipation of deer season. We saw a good sized bedding spot too. Here are my youngest two and two of the neighbor boys from across the street. Hey too to those grubbin’ hoes like a fish to water. Good workers.

No, Parker is in the orange shirt in the left. The two in the middle are neighbor kids and Simon is on the right. Jackson, my oldest was at a 4H meeting.

They were good workers. We cleaned out some saplings that were in the wrong place. They had it done in no time.

Scott, you and Wade are teachin' those young fellers what it is all about!
We sure miss our child labor! Our cowboy and cowgirls went off to college and never came home to work.
If our grandsons lived closer, they'd be learning the lessons their mommy and daddy did here in the woods. Hard work and responsibility never hurt our children and I feel it helped prepare them for what they are doing with their lives at this time.
I know every child can't be in the woods or on the farm but they certainly need to be disconnected from all the electronic devices at least part of their day. Those grubbin' hoes and axes are correct!
