The past couple of days have been very fine in my area: the first breath of autumn across the land. Yesterday I took my kayak out for a paddle. In this photo I got the bayou, marsh, osprey, and moon.

Yesterday I checked a camera that is set in some thick woods between our house and the main dirt road. Among the pictures was the 1st spotted fawn of the season, looks like it is single birth. Some times we see spotted fawns in November and December as our rut is so late compared to the rest of the country. Also there was a picture of 2 coyotes, not a good thing. The 1st picture of the fawn and its mother was at night and the second showed the little feller crossing the woods road, he's a few steps behind his momma and the next frame showed another deer following them.
I enjoy the cameras almost as much as sittin' in the shootin' house.

Today's walk. Few pictures from the ancient Eneolithic Sanctuary of Belintash. A stone plateau of which, 7,000 years ago, an unknown civilization carved the rock into strange shapes, holes and canals. There are only hypotheses about what exactly they were used for. The two wells never dry.
There is archaeological evidence, that 4 millennia later, the Thracian tribe of Bessi used the same sanctuary to worship the god Sabazius.

Very interesting photos, Eustace. The first photo on this page reminded me of a fantasy story I once read where the hippogriff left hoof prints in in the rock of a mountaintop before taking flight. You are certainly off the beaten track in Bulgaria. Never been there myself, that is for sure.

After some strong winds The majestic tree that graced our front driveway dropped a huge branch across the gate and sadly because it was too dangerous the tree had to come down. It was a Eucalypt we figured about 90 - 95 feet high and about 4 foot through the stump. Very sad to see it go.

Brumby - well, at least the Eucalyptus did not take out a vehicle! That is a job cutting and disposing of a tree that size.

Here on my coast the hummingbirds are really building up prior to making the flight across the Gulf of Mexico. Usually they leave by October 10, with just a straggler or two after that. We have a couple of feeders plus they really like the Cypress Vine that is growing over some stuff. Probably a half dozen hummers in the back yard at any one time, fussing and fighting. Does anyone know why they are called Ruby Throated Hummingbird?

Headed to a local park first thing yesterday morning.....was hot and humid. Waiting for a temperature that begins with a "6".

Made a fire then boiled water for coffee and oatmeal.....best I ever had by the way!!

Saw 5 deer and 2 turkeys on way in.

Not here so close to the gulf......possible up and inland a little more.

Long time no see guys. I hope everyone is doing well!
We started a new project a couple weeks ago for a “kill hut”, “hunting Château”, stand. Basically it’s a snipers tower in the little bit of woods that we have, it will cover the escape routes that our deer seem to take once they leave the field.

None of these pics are in the correct order, but you can see the many hands that are putting the work in. My nephew cooper is the next generation to waiting to hunt the farm, but until then he makes a pretty good foreman of our group (watches everyone else work and doesn’t say much).

We have a 53 acre farm that is mostly fields, overlooking that field we have two “kill huts”.

First the “Hilton”. Fully insulated, added some flip up bench rests and some spinning office chairs since these pics.

Then the “Ghetto”.

So our new project is an attempt to add to our success, while adding hunting locations for our growing family.
