These are ( from top) the first 3 knives i ordered from a custom maker to my specs some years ago.
He is out of business now.

For size comparison the 4th is a Russell Sting

They fit perfect on the front pocket,
mostly i carry this way

Those are interesting knives, Bigbore; they even have a big bore through their middle!

I mislabeled the Levine miniature I believe it's a Bow Head skinner.

Here's a couple that are marked but I haven't been able to id the who the maker actually is.
First is simply stamped DP. Second knife is marked Baskett while the sheath is marked Baker.

outkast,
I like the looks of the little one with the antler handle, it looks "comfortable".
What is the function of the notches in the knife marked Basskett? Surely it's not a wire stripper. ::hmm::

I think the maker's name is Gene Bassket and I'm not sure if he is still making knives. I can't see the sheath clearly but some knives were made with such a notch as to be used in conjunction with the sheath as a fulcrum to cut through barbed wire.Popular on survival knives and some bayonets if I recall correctly.

jerryd, A year ago you posted a photo of an AJ Russell Woods Walker. If you have used it, how would you rate its cutting ability?

Good info I emailed Gene last night. He told me the knife was made in the mid 90s, Don Baker was the sheath maker. There were only 6-8 made. Price $300

Some real nice little antique gems on here -- nice one, Ray (Paladin) - ::tu:: -- and others look tough and very efficient for their size. All look unique and awesome. ::ds:: ::tu::

Outkast, that little Baskett knife and Baker sheath, very nice! ::nod::

I'm groovin' on Paladin's little KABAR. I don't know what defines "small" for this thread. I have this little Ruana sitting in a mailer 1000 miles from here which I will get to see when I get home in a month; it is 7.5 inches overall. I can't wait to kiss this knife, kiss my dog and kiss my WIFE.

A fine looking piece of cutlery there. ::tu:: I am guessing a 3 1/2 in. blade. I think anything up to 4 in. is small on a fixed blade. Not that it matters really.
