Anyone Else Get Obsessed With 1 Particular Knife

My point is that fakes are present in the huge variety of knives 'out there', and as such could be gathered into a collection. Some people might collect only single blade knives, others with might collect knives with advertising on the handles, etc. The fakes are just as legitimate to collect as are the authentic knives. There is no 'rule' that says fakes cannot be collected.
But, who wants to ? Not i.
But if someone else creates such a collection i sure would like to examine the knives while being told what to observe that indicates a fake. A lot could be learned in a short amount of time.

I have my share of them for any one who wants to collect them. I would have a couple more if not for the informed folks here at AAPK who have shared their experience and brought some training to me. Thank you to those who share their knowledge

My other Obsession is the 1989 Case/Parker Liner Lock. This was one of the only USA made Case Knives not made in Bradford PA. This Case/Parker pattern was produced in Jacksonville Alabama which is now the Bear and Sons factory. I'm close to completing the whole set. I need the Case Red Bone and Case Maple handled one with the Centennial Serial Number on it. They show up from time to time on EBay so its just waiting for the right price. The Parkers were very hard to find, a few of them I've only seen the one I purchased and never seen another one like it.

Funny thing is the price difference vs amount produced. The Case models cost more and more were made, the Parker's cost less and less were made. But it's the same knife.

Yes, both the Case and Parker stamped knives were made in Jacksonville, there were only a few Case USA made knives not produced in Bradford PA. This was one of them. All were made at the same time 1989 from what I read. The Case ones were only available in the Centennial Mint Sets. None sold in stores that I know of. The Parkers were made for the Tom Seaver Mint Set (250 or 500 knives made) and a Damascus model was for NKCA club knife (2500 knives made). Parker had 1 model made (all stainless handle) for sale in stores. There is 1 Parker model (walnut handle with Parker shield) that I can't find any info on. The walnut handle model was the first one I bought ($10) about 8 years ago and I've never seen another one. To get the Tom Seaver models I ended up buying 3 complete Mint sets. Then selling the other knives in the set one by one on eBay. Yes that was crazy but I was obsessed. I think I only need 2 more to complete the set.

I love my Kabar/Union Cutlery knives. I have a small fixed blade skinning knife and a couple of fish knives with the fish hook sharpener and straightener. Levine's guide tells how Kabar got its name: an old timer was talking about killing a bear and with his deep country drawl he pronounced it like Kill a Bar and hence Kabar.

Girlrocker, Welcome to AAPK! I like Union / Ka-Bar but (so far) only have these 2. I ended up with these because they are Gunboat patterns which I collect. They are very well made knives and I now watch for old Union knives regardless of the pattern. They seem hard to find.

We like pictures here so if you have some you would like to post we'd appreciate seeing them.

Thank you for the welcome. I like this site and forum. Anyway I'd love to post pictures of some of our knives. But right now my husband has to dig out our box of knives which are buried under a bunch of stuff. Hopefully soon. We have a variety of different knives brands, and patterns and they get the tlc treatment.

I was going through my accumulation today and was surprised to see that I had over 25 examples of the Camillus 72 and it's clones. I guess that might qualify as an obsession. If you'll just look at jerryd's pics you'll see some of the ones I have.

I have the Imperial Hammer Brand but I guess that's the only one other than the Schrade Olsen And Kon-Kav. They are difficult to find.

There's three that don't come up too often. Took me a long time to acquire a Kon-Kav. Olsen comes in a USA variation and a German variation. The Hammer Brands don't surface with any degree of frequency.

McGrew - Now and then. Couple of variations (made by Camillus)
Remington R14 - three variations (made by Camillus)
Rigid RG70 - Pop up fairly frequently (made by Camillus)
Harley Davidson HD-21 - Fairly scarce (made by Camillus)
Made In USA - Fairly scarce (made by Camillus)
Schrade 863 - Available but at a higher price
High Carbon Steel - Sta-Sharp 9511 - Sears - Hen's teeth
Stanley SL6 - Pop up now and then, usually in a blister pak (Made by Camillus)
Trustworthy Hardware 36810 - Hen's teeth (probably made by Schrade)
Utica Kutmaster - Fairly scarce
York Cutlery - Fairly scarce

Cussin and Fearn Hardware - 1950s maybe -- I don't have one. Very very scarce
Hibbard Spencer True Value -- I don't have one. I've only seen two.
Queen City -- All I've seen is a picture and this may not exist. It may be a fake. ???????
