Yes Tom, it is a pre '82 Rooster. I have several pre '82's but this one is now one of my favorites.

hey james, nice rooster. i was reading the 1983 price guide by parker/voyles and they value the knife at $80. 600 made.

i will give you their full mint price for it! you know, to help ya out.

Question for anybody? What is the story behind the Captains Rooster etch, I've seen it on lots of Roosters and always wondered what the words captain had to do with anything...?

This is my only Captain's Rooster... Hawbaker pattern. This is probably the nicest pearl I own, or have seen in a long time.

It's a Celebrated stamp - I wanna say I bought this one, in about '88 or '89 ? The Wharnie blade has one freckle, that the camera won't capture, it's pretty tiny. Other than that, it's like new.

I do like a Hawbaker pattern ! This one is just to pretty to use.

The Cliff notes version...

A knife designed by S. Stanley Hawbaker and made by Case between 1961-1982. This was a Muskrat knife with a clip blade and a large sheepfoot or a wharncliffe blade.

I believe he was a renowned trapper and outfitter.
