Here is an OLD Camillus pocket knife

I got this little gem in the mail today.

It has the OLD three-line stamping - not to be confused with the newer three line stamping that was started after WWII.

This one is stamped CAMILLUS/CUTLERY CO/CAMILLUS, N.Y.

The lettering is the same style as that used on the four-line stamping. Conventional wisdom on the four line stamping is that it was used from about WWI through WWII. I believe that this stamping predates that one, but I am not sure by how far. The four line stamping is similar but includes the USA.

I can't seem to get a clseup scan of the tang stamping with my Epson Perfection scanner - even by cropping a small area around the tang - any ideas on how to better do that?

Hi:
You might try going into customize on your scanner and moving your resolution for photo up to maybe 300dpi.
Scan and then crop and adjust level in a photo program. It might work.

Do you have a size setting in terms of percentage?? 200% or 300%??
150 DPI is plenty if you up the size.

I was speaking of using automatic. I do not know what size it copies too.
