Ima Wearin' Herringbone Loafers and Corduroy Walkin' Shorts

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Ima Wearin' Herringbone Loafers and Corduroy Walkin' Shorts

Post by knifeaholic »

Sorry Blister, I just HAD to use that title.

Nice little wall hanger...

Original XX era Case factory display board. This once hung on the wall under a glass frame in a sporting goods store. Based on the knives on the board, my guess is that it was assembled at the Case factory in the early 1960's. The prices on the stickers are from 1969, so my guess is that that was the year the dealer got a new board to replace this one.

Not too many of these left all intact like this one.

Not likely - I have seen and handled many many older Case knives from display boards over the years, no problems with backsprings.

Steve, how in the world do you find these treasures? Knife shows or contacts made at knife shows?

Beautiful display board.
I can still kick myself for passing on a similar display at a auction in Knoxville in the 1980's that went for a very reasonable price.

Nice! Really hard to find any of those especially from as far back as the 60s. Are you gonna try to find a Case retail display case from that era to put it in? Those may be easier to find than the boards.

Actually the dimensions on this one do not match any Case floor or counter display cases of the era - it most likely had a wood and glass frame around it and hung on a wall, with backup stock stored elsewhere.
