Hi All,

just made a member of this site. I saw Graham Clayton mentioned in a thread and wanted to let you know that he is alive and well. I met graham at Kelham Island in Sheffield where he had a knife making shop. I was interested in knives in general and miniatures in particular. Graham taught me all about knife making and I can now turn out a decent mini when the mood takes me.

Graham made all sorts of fixed blade and folder, with handle materials of all the classic Sheffield makes such a MOP, Stag, Horn and hard woods. His work was all genuine hand made and involved skills that took some learning and are now mostly lost.

He even used fiddle drills rather than power drills for certain jobs in the shop. That is the level of antiquity he was prepared to go to for a really authentic knife.

I have several of Grahams knives in my collection and I will always teasure them. He makes very few knives now having a small workshop at home.

If anyone needs any more info about Graham then reply to this thread and I will ask him to provide the answers, he is not on line and never embraced the WWW which may have contributed to his lack of business in recent years, but who knows.

Tried to send you a letter but I doubt if it will make to your residence.
I am a avid collector of Coutel and Digby knives. Also Fighting Rooster/Frank Buster which
I believe you made. I have a 19inch closed ivory handled engraved bolster knife you made
at House of Coutel. And a bowie with your name on it. Did you ever have any books made or any advertising literture made up? Hoping to get a reply.
