Case Bone Stag, like it or dont like it?

What are your opinions on Case XX Bone Stag knives?
Im a huge stag fanatic. I have probably 120 Case knives in genuine stag, and another 200 or so of different stag knives from other makers.

I looked the new Bone Stag over and have come to the conclusion that I DO NOT like it. I tried to like it but it just seems to me like I would be buying something fake. In my opinion bone stag is like imitation pearl.

Im not knocking bone stag, I just dont like it.

What are your opinions on bone stag???

Honestly it does not do it for me either. There are some nice pieces out there (Case seems to handle it the best in my opinion) but like you said earlier no matter how hard I try to like it I would rather save my few penny's and purchase true stag.

Nothing against those who like it but the comparison of imitation pearl to real pearl says it best for me...

OK, I'll be odd man out here, but I really like it. Sure it doesn't quite look like real stag, but I dig the color.

I saw a bunch of real stags knives this weekend, and they do look really nice though, outta my price range, but sweet!

I'm not a big fan of imitation handles either. I prefer the pure material. I'm at a disadvantage when it comes to stag though, Remington made very few patterns of stag handled knives other than the 1306 bullet knife.

The bone stag handles loose all their color very quickly after you start carrying them. The look bad in just a few weeks. I think the regular jigged bone is a much better product. JMO

Jeff hit this one right on the head IMO. Those bonestag handles do end up loosing their luster after a few pocket sessions.

The one saving grace about them is that some of the oldest bone scales ever used were jigged to look like deer antler. It's nothing new, and there is actually quite a history behind the process.

I also prefer jigged bone. I have an Anglo-Saxon that has jigged bone to imitate Red Stag. It's a fairly good likeness when I compare it to another knife with Red Stag. It's red/dark red/black, so it's easier to pull off than other stag.

Well my 2 cents is ya just cannot beat STAG !!!
Stag scaled knives make up 90% of my collection
I have had a passion for em for more yrs than
I really care to remember. I love the folders,
but if I had to choose my favorites, they would be stag
scaled fixed blade hunters.
And too the remington collector- here's ya one thats
all STAG buddie !!!

NICE knife, is that a RH 75? Heres a vintage 1306 stag bullet.

Not to many of them old stag bullets around remington collector
thats a RH 73 on my old remington
I am bettin it came out of the early 30's
hard for ya to get your hands on their
knives when they only made em 20 yrs or so
thats the fun of it though, the neverending search
