WR Case Hobo

Post by Dave O »

I have an antique shop owner that just sold his store. He has been telling me for 25 years that some day he would let me see what he had in his safe. But the problem is he cannot get to it because he has so much stuff in front of it(his excuse) Well today I was pushing him, as something has to give.. and he showed me this, and will sell it to me. It is in rough condition. Also there was a Wade and Buthcer (Sheffield ) Kitchen knife with a good piece of Stag, for $38.00 I would get it if one of you wanted it for the Stag ?? Please let me know what you think the WR Case &sons Bradford PA is worth.

Master blade is down alot also the handle material looks different on each side, maybe sides from different knives. If I had the chance I would try to buy it, but I would not want to give a high price.

From what I can see, significant blade loss, mismatched scales, tarnished up pretty good, I can't see any cracks.....................offer him $200.00, I'd give him that for it.

Providing the tang stamp is strong, and there are no cracks!

Of course he is going to say $500.00, you may get it for $250.00

I wouldn't give him $200.00 for that Hobo nor would I spend $38.00 on that W&B.
The first one needs to be redone to be worth anything and that will devalue it for some folks and the W&B isn't all that rare.
Thats' me, maybe the next guy feels differently.

Thanks for your advice. I had decided against both of them. He has a Case folding hunter (2 bladesWooden scales) I might get for 50 bucks, but that is all he will show me right now!

Dave O; if the folding hunter has a lanyard hole you can date it pretty close.
