I absolutely love the edge those Deerslayers and Sharpfingers take. I'm planning on putting a recent Bear & Son clone to the test to see how close to the original Schrades they got. My control group Schrade is one of the most dangerously-sharp knives I own.

Keeping my stag buzz on with this AG Russell. Been wanting one of these for almost ten years, but when it first appeared in the 2008 AGR catalog, I just couldn't bring myself to fork over $120 for a knife that was made in China. Now I own a number of made in China AG Russell knives and love every one. So, I was extremely delighted to find this Stag Agents Office Knife MIB for less than original retail. Early bird may get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese!

I attended the annual sale at the B/S factory a couple of years ago.
Actually, I've been three times ....

Anywho, during one of those visits, I overheard Ken Griffey, owner of Bear & Son,
state that the tool they have and use for their Sharpfinger clone is the actual tooling
used by Schrade. He bought it at the factory closing sale.

Nice pick ups everyone, Scott that Sharp finger is a great score, that knife has always appealed to me but I have never pulled the trigger on one because I have a whole box of fixies and only ever actually use two or three of them, the rest just sit.
Royal great bit of info about Bear using the same tooling on their clone, they seem to do a better job with their fixed blades than they do with their folders in my experience.
Q that AG Russell is a really unique looking knife, handsome but rugged, I can see why you like it.

....using a phrase that I hi-jacked from you Jerry, I refer to myself as an "accumulator"....not a collector! ...and in all reality, I have been trying to thin out my herd a bit here lately...problem is more strays keep sneaking in under the fence! ...must...remain...vigilant....

Just received these two beauties today. A Case 62131 Canoe and a 6347 Stockman. Both with Old Red Pocket Worn Bone.

Just pulled the trigger on this one from flea bay.

I know it's a Schrade Walden but does anyone have any idea about pattern number and handle material? I'm thinking bone but don't know for sure.

EDIT - I think I just found the pattern number: 242(3) anywhere from 1946 to 1950. What say ye?

You are correct, it's an early walden 242 as indicated by the stamp on both blades. I have one like it, nice knife.

Jerry - it is definitely bone

I received Tuesday and was surprised at one how good of a condition it is in and two how small it is. For some reason I was thinking it would be the size of a standard cigar jack but reminds me more of a physician's knife. Awesome snap, fit, and finish. Half stop on the pen blade. Springs are flush open and closed. Another early Schrade for the collection.

I'll have some time over the weekend to post picks.

I was fortunate to acquire a couple of Queen Kious knives recently which had busted handles. I thought to myself that they would look super with a set of Rams Horn covers on one and torched Sambar Stag on the other. I sent them to Herman Williams to perform his magic, as he does, and low and behold i am now the owner of two incredibly nice fixes blade Queen knives. I hope you like them as much as me. Another two knives "resurrected from the ashes".

After a bit of a "dry spell" in knife recon and acquisition I got these three today.
A Leatherman Wingman for $5. Liner lock for knife blade is broken but it still functions.
A Buck 345 Lockback for $15. Like new.
A Super Automatic OTF like new for $15.This appears to be one of the earlier Japanese built models rather than the newer Pacific Rim models of questionable quality.

This thing is a brute with a 5/16" spine!
